That’s interesting. my iron labs definitely show signs of inflammation from my understanding so maybe the low SHGB is a result of hypothyroid and/or inflammation.
I’m going to (try) to more disciplined with nutrition and hopefully I see the improvement. Are you doing better now? Anymore issues?
Armour is the best. That synthoid and other crap doesn’t work. just do some research and you’ll see everyone hates it. You want desiccated thyroid like armor or np thyroid. try 1 grain am and 1grain pm. after a week or two you should feel balanced in energy and mood and etc. I doubt its too much. Also when doctors prescribe t3, they don’t give nearly enough.
ITS Been a long time since ive discussed this, but I think reverse t3 is what causes t4 to not convert to t3. If you have high levels of ft3, you can look at your diet. My wife added more carbs back to her diet and and it lowered her rt3 quick. If that doesn’t help, you can try t3 only, but make sure the amount of t3 you take is equivalent to 1 grain or half a grain. I rarely have run into people who take less than a grain to fix their thyroid issues.
Also t3 has a very short half life. you want to take it 3 times a day. For T3/T4 combinations you take it twice a day 8 hours apart. 6am and 2pm and etc. T4 will build up after a few days and t3 is fast acting.
You take Amour right? I thought remember reading you got your meds from a compounding pharmacy because of pork or something like that.
Did you by chance have any adrenaline type symptoms before armour? I have adrenaline type symptoms as well (tachycardia, shortness of breathe, anxiety like crazy, ect) which is the main reason I’m nervous about taking anything with t3 in it.
yes armour, i was gettin cow dessicated, but they stopped making that. Im stuck taking armour thyroid now, and its perfect. cant complain.
Only issues i had was serious fatigue.
T4 converts to t3, and t3 is t3… No matter what you take, it all needs to produce T3 to give you the benefits of thyroid.
Why are you thinking this is an adrenal issue? Maybe you do. But i would first make sure that my medical provider has confirmed it.
I have had experiences where i didnt know what the problem was, and i would find all these potential causes. End of day it needed a simple solutions like armour thyroid or just some testosterone.
Its going to be very hard for you to realize any benefit from T3 if you already think its going to cause issues. Meaning that you will take it, and your mind will F it all up by making your heart race and etc. youll think its not working the way it should , simply because you are so scared of it.
When i took Armour thyroid it simply gave me energy and made me feel alive again. I had zero issues with heart racing and shit that people talk about.
I felt alive, awake and healthy. I take 2 grains a day and my levels are healthy. not too high, not too low.
If your body is low on t4/t3, you need to take thyroid. This is biio identical and the body will treat it as such. Theres no need to think its going to cause any issues. If anything, it will most likely alleviate any issues you might be having due to the lack of .
You should definitely contact a good doctor. I’m more than happy to share with you mine. You can email me anytime.
Fellas, I could use some help with lab interpretations and protocol help.
Male
5’10
185lbs (could benefit from losing ~20lbs of fat)
Many symptoms throughout this 3 year journey
Protocol:
120mg once every 8 days
B12 (1000mcg/every other day)
Iron (every other day)
Synthroid 25mcg daily
Below are labs from April. my iron finally increased a little bit. My thyroid improved but not great. Testosterone doesn’t seem to go up at all regardless of injections. I’ve tried increasing dose to 140mg/week but I never stick with it because I always feel uncomfortable amped up.
Above I posted my results from a few months ago. Since that blood work I had increased synthroid to 50mcg and started taking 1000IU of vitamin D from the request of a hyperparathyroid speciality. Updated labs from July are below.
Everytime I take vitamin D my calcium shoots up to top of range or above range.
My synthroid was increased to 50mcg, but as you can see my thyroid numbers are actually worse than my thyroid numbers on 25mcg.
After 3 years of struggling, I could really use help.
You have low SHBG, so Total T is going to be lower and Free T higher. If your Free T is high, then leave the TRT dosage alone.
Your lipids are horrible, what does your diet look like?
Do you exercise?
I had the same problem, I got hypercalcemia with vitamin D at 74. If your vitamin K is low, calcium just floats around in the bloodstream and leaches out from your bones.
Low vitamin D will cause fatigue, muscle loss even with high T, depression and weak bones. I found I can’t handle more than 2400 UI in a day and can’t take more than 800 IU at a time.
@systemlord my cholesterol has always been bad even before these issues when I worked out 5 days a week and ate healthy. I haven’t exercised for the last 2 years other than walking and my diet definitely need improving. But realistically I don’t eat a lot, I very rarely eat fast food (1 every month or two). I do eat sugar but I wouldn’t say an excessive amount.
The last time my vitamin K was checked it wasn’t close to being deficient. Also, my calcium is still high and you can see my vitamin d is still low, so it’s not high vitamin d causing it.
Any suggestions on increasing FT3? I increased synthroid to 50mcg and my thyroid numbers got worse.
I agree with systemlord above. Look into getting a T3/T4 custom compounded thyroid. The only caveat being your tachycardia, so titrating upward slowly may be wise. Also, I’d consider a pharmacological testosterone level. Many men do not achieve full symptom relief with physiological levels.
I’d like to get my testosterone higher regardless if that’s the issue or not. Do you have recommended protocol since 120/weekly does barely do anything?
Your total T is low, but you have low SHBG. Normally a lower dose would be fine, but you have no clue what Free t or E is at (estrogen is cardio protective. guys who have bad CV who start trt usually get health cv numbers. unless they take an ai, and then it gets worse until they stop and let the E flow naturally. seen it a dozen times). .
You need to get tested, and ensure this low shbg is allowing more free T. . Also, you need to take T more often, nobody takes it every 8th day if they know what they are doing. Take two doses a week or three.
Thyroid - That type of tyroid replacement is shit and you need to take it 3x a day since its t3 only. Fast half life. Get 1grain of armour thyroid and take 1grain twice a day on an empty stomach. Stop wasting your time with the fake shit. Eveyrone who switches to armour realizes the difference and will never go back.
Your CV health is shot, doesnt look great. Your TRT is cardio protective, specifically Estrogen that the T creates. Diet could be the cause, and not enough hormones to protect your system as well.
You need more of both and more often. Your doctor is giving you a shit
Oh yeah. The guys at work notice my energy levels and ask me if I ever get tired towards the end of my shift. My energy levels are the same all day long until it’s time for bed.
My co-works are shocked to learn I’m 50 years old and thought I was 35.
