Hi,
Is it safe to use minoxidil while being on TRT?
Thank you
Yes. Propecia/finasteride gets the bad rap for perm side effects.
You need to really think about your next move carefully, the risks just aren’t work it for a full head of hair. Wherever you start screwing with normal functions within the body there always seem to be a consequence.
The Post-Finasteride Syndrome is a serious state of permanent sexual, mental, and physical side effects which do not resolve after quitting the drug, most often accompanied by an acquired form of secondary hypogonadism and post-drug loss of androgenic action, which remains highly resistant to hormonal treatments aimed at restoring Testosterone/DHT’s effects in the male body to pre-drug virility levels. It is also surmised by the few specialists in the medical field that a type of receptor or “brain damage” has occurred. As often seen with such damage, recovery is very slow or now questioned whether possible at all. Needless to say, men suffering from PFS are plagued with any physical, mental, and emotional symptoms that have led to long term depression, marital problems and divorce, and now several reports cases of suicide.
What the hell, I never thought it could be so dangerous.
All these guys on youtube claiming to grow a beard with minoxidil are lucky.
I have heard about some headaches but what you show here is brain damage…
There are lots of doctors still handing this stuff out like candy who are unaware of the dangers. There have been some where symptoms didn’t show up for years, perhaps in time we shall see more cases of men taking Finasteride long term.
From what I have read on the web, it looks like Minoxidil is different from Finasteride.
I use Minoxidil 2x/day and am planning on starting TRT soon.
From what I’ve read, finasteride blocks the conversion of cycling testosterone (body’s testosterone from all sources) to DHT, which is basically a weaker type of testosterone, and can increase cycling testosterone by 15%.
That sounds great, but it also can increase estradiol (estrogen, female hormone) by 15%, which isn’t great.
Here’s a study on Finasteride that shows some increases in serum testosterone, with greater increases in men with lower testosterone:
To answer your original question, I couldn’t find any conclusive studies on Minoxidil, and most of what I’ve read state that minoxidil doesn’t affect testosterone levels and is safe to use.
delsin, yes minoxidil is safe.
Why in the hell these other guys are off in the weeds talking about finaasteride is beyond me.
If you have dry skin or sensitive skin you can get a rash on your scalp. It can really dryout your skin.
There are no studies done, but tons of articles on it.
Topical minoxidil 5% induced male sexual dysfunction. scalp can occur in patients with damaged skin, leading to increased side effects. weight gain, tiredness, difficulty breathing especially when lying down
