So the fact that he was registered as a Muslim as a 10 year old child means he’s a Muslim now? What he was registered as has nothing to do with what he practices now. He was registered as a Muslim because his stepfather was a Muslim (and not a particularly religious one). His father’s side of the family has had little influence on his life. He was raised by his maternal grandparents. And even if he was a Muslim it wouldn’t matter (unless he lied about it).

First of all they’re not all terrorists. Many of those people are innocent of any wrongdoing and have been released.

Many of the guilty have been released under President Bush’s watch. You can’t act as if Obama is going to release all these dangerous terrorists from jail when in truth the majority of the detainees are gone already.

“Radicals” implies something to do with their political affiliation. Even radical Muslims would likely be inaccurate for many of them, but its better than just saying “radicals” which without any other signifier generally implies political radicalism and not religious radicalism. Why not just call them terrorists or Al Qaeda or “enemy combatants”? But that’s semantics

The man was asked about his name and was asked if he was Muslim. He did not say he converted from Islam to Christianity and that was the explanation for his name. Wrong. His father was an atheist but gave his son a Muslim name, the same way HIS father did. And Obama Sr’s father was born Christian, it’s not as if the family has some long history of being Muslim. They are ethnically Luo, not Arab.

The President-elect has always been named Barack Hussein Obama, it has nothing to do with conversion to or from Islam. Why should he change his birthname because he’s a Christian now? He didn’t change it when he became an atheist–or was struggling with his faith or whatever.

There are differences between being Ethnically/Biologically Arab, being Culturally Arab, and being Muslim. You can be one of these categories or any combination thereof.

For the first category think of Lebanese Christians raised here in the US. They are ethnically Arab, culturally American, and Christian.

For the second category thing of an Indian expat living/raised in Saudi Arabia. He’s culturally Arab, ethnically Indian, and Hindi.

That is one of the dumbest things I have heard in a long time.

The economic system that allowed this kind of thing to occur has been around for decades. The ONLY thing that could be his fault was giving in to the socialist idea that everyone should own their own home. Loosening the loan requirements to allow deadbeats to get home loans they couldn’t pay back is what wrecked our economy. So only in that sense is Bush responsible, and all the socialist assholes who were pushing the idea.
