Treatment of Bush Is a Disgrace

Ok I shouldve made myself clear. My point was he has a white mother and black father, but he is considered white. I dont get it. At what point is a person black and a person white?

Most people in this country would consider me black. Do you see me as any other race by looking at my pictures?

Just answer the question.

Ok, Ill be honest, I would think your black, BUT I like being wrong because this means Ive learned something.
Its messed up, I know two people both with white mothers and black fathers. One looks like a black guy and the other a white guy. Society sees one as white and one as black, how messed up is that.

How old are you? Why did this need to be explained like this?

This is about PERCEPTION and always has been. Based strictly on appearance I have had to work even harder in my education and my career to be seen as ‘equal’ to others around me who don’t have to put forth anywhere near the same effort.

My family is from all over the world. My grandmother was Native American, French and black American (one generation removed from slavery). She had blue eyes.

Not one fucking person in this country is worried about where my blood comes from when they see me on the street.

Hello, McFly!?

If they voted for McCain based on him not being black, would they be doing so in order to see their own race on EQUAL ground as blacks…or to maintain their status above an entire race?

[quote]BillO21 wrote:

I might not know what racism is. I think of racism as anything anyone does because of someones race. I did NOT think about race when I voted. IF whites turned out and voted 90% McCain would’ve won, would that be ok?

How do I know what you were thinking when you voted…you could be racist for all I know. You could have voted for McCain just to vote against Obama for all I know…I don’t know you. See how that works?? That’s the logic you’re using to generalize an ENTIRE demograph as blatant racist.

Black people don’t vote Republican…this is nothing new. Why don’t you focus on the white people who voted for Obama…are they racists as well???

True. It was NOT my intent to accuse an entire race as being racist. That is dumb. I try to be a realist, blacks voted in greaqter numbers and a higher percentage. I believe this is driven because of race. Do you think this had nothing to do with the way he looks?

It doesn’t matter what you believe.

What is funny is how we get grouped together like we all have one mind…yet we in turn get accused of “racism” if we acknowledge that we are viewed as one mind and take action to improve our status as a race as a result of it.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

If it needs further explanation, blame the school system.

We will start with my point in the previous post. It was my point from the beginning to show the greater numbers and higher percentage of people voting for him because of his skin color.

Second, I believe this shows not how far we have come but how far we have to go.

Third, I might be reading your posts wrong but it comes across as condescending and you repeatedly put down my intelligence because I do not think like you.

Fourth, I am an Irish, Italian, German, French Canadian, Native American. I was tracing my history and one of my ancestors were listed as being black, does this make me black?

Fifth, I graduated Magna Cume Laude pre med Biological Sciences and have a masters in Education. Do I still need to blame the education system?

Sixth, I voted for Obama because I think he is the best MAN to lead this country today.

I look forward to the time where people vote because of the issues and ability to do a job, not by what they look like. Now I look like a white guy so I have never been oppressed because of the way I look so this might not hold as much weight but I could never vote for someone because of their race or color.

Wow…and you’re worried about Prof.X being condescending. I don’t believe you…you voted for him because he’s black…fess up…lol.

It wasn’t the “Black” vote that got Obama elected. These are Democrate votes for the most part. It was the white “I’m Sick of This Shit” vote that got him elected.

Personally I think it was the fact that Obama spoke to the people while McCain spoke at them. One dared to take it to a personal level with the voter. The other held to the status quo. Anyway you look at it, Obama’s on the way to the White House!

I hadn’t thought the white vote changed that much. What was the split the last couple of elections?

Oh, it’s never “elitist” when they claim to know what I think on every political issue. It’s only elitist on my part when I state that they aren’t even on the same level.

LOL thank you again for a good laugh. I learned a long time ago you do not have to agree with someone to value their opinion and learn something from them.

Give it time you might get there some day.

And to think I am not on the same level as you because of a few posts on a message board is incredibly ignorant of you.

Hey…you’re the one spouting off how the MAJORITY of black people that voted for Obama only did so because he’s black…and how that’s racism.

YET you voted for the same man…but did so because he was the better man. I guess no black person could have done the same, huh?

Do you not see the ignorance you have projected?

I see your point. I did not intend to say the majority of black people voted for him because of his color. I was speaking of the 20% extra voters and many of the new voters.
Are you saying all of the extra people voting for him had nothing to do with his color?

LOL!!!

But I’m “elitist” if I dare say how ridiculous this is.

Why are you trying to say anything about how an entire group of people voted unless they specifically told you why they voted?

Not at all:

My major point was to show the extra black voters voting for him because he is black is as bad as voting for McCain because he is white. Well unless you think the extra people voting for him had nothing to do with his color.

The same way I would say it is wrong if over 90% of whites voted for McCain.

Nobody is denying that…but when you make accusations that the ENTIRE majority voted only for race is ignorant.

Of course some voted based on race alone…as this holds true for people who voted for McCain…just to vote against Obama. Lots of variables as why people voted for whomever.

Bottom line: if McCain didn’t say the economy was great when it turned out to be crap, Obama might not have got in.

Doesn’t matter, though. At least he can’t do any worse than that chimp, Bush.
