Cool movie, but I was disappointed that Cybertron was destroyed. My favorite episodes took place there and I was hoping the sequel would also.[/quote]

That’s what prequels are for

Wasn’t Ethan Haas the name of the character that John Ritter’s son played on CBS’ The Class (yes I watched the show, sue me).

I had heard about the “Cloverfield” working title after seeing the movie, but what that has to do with a cheesy sit-com (if anything) is beyond me. I guess it could be a coincidence, but that’s not exactly a common name. Weird…

weird?

Devastator is a vehicle!?!?!?!

Throws arms up in the air and storms off swearing

From Wikipedia:

In the film, Devastator appears as a separate character that transforms into a heavily-modified M1 Abrams tank. This character was listed as being renamed Brawl; however, in the final movie, the Decepticon clearly identifies himself as Devastator. According to writer Roberto Orci and Hasbro’s Transformers team, this is an error and that he is supposed to be named Brawl.

My wife and I saw this yesterday and we thought it was great! While I think it’s a great action movie… I do have some “gripes”…

Devastator… either an error on the production or whatever… I wish they put him just like the cartoon, but it’s possible someone not familiar with the lore got this messed up???

I thought the bumblebee thing was going to be horrible, but damn… I’m glad that made him a camarro vs. a New Beetle… so that was a good change.

Some of the scenes with the Autobots and Decepticons moved way too fast for me, I would have liked them to show more of them… but I also realize that CGI scenes eat up a LOT of money… so no real complaint there I suppose. hopefully in the sequel they’ll have more robot time vs. human time.

I thought it was interesting that Prime picked up a piece of the all spark at the end of the show… maybe he’ll find a way to make more Auto bots?

What was up with the Mountain Dew machine and the Caddy transformers? Definitely odd… but still cool.

A good action movie all in all.

Four out of Five stars for me.

A couple days ago I saw it for the second time. I thought it was just as good as the first time, but I realized something- Barricade seemed to disappear during that chase scene and never appeared in the city fight. Did he reappear and I just missed him?

I LOVED IT
even with all the product placement that everyone is bitching about it was still amazing

I don’t understand bitching about trivia like Optimus Prime’s paint job and truck design, or the Brawl/Devastator name change. This franchise has been dead for decades. God Bless Bay and Spielburg for bringing it back to life. They spent the money, if they want to take some artistic license, they have the right.

I didn’t like it. Not compared to what they COULD have done with all that money.

Spielberg and Bay made everything look like another Jurassic Park. Giant robots without faces and personalities with a few lines tossed in just so you know they talk. All this with another portion of corny Disney-style humor(even some PG blaxploitation) and handsome tan teenagers looking defiantly into the camera.

The whole point of transformers was that they had faces, personalities and voices. And that the action was from the robot’s view, not something that makes you feel like you’re watching accidental sept 11th footage. I see no point in having a frame render 32 hours and obsessing over how realistic it is if you end up with so much detail that you can’t see shit.

Other than Prime, if they wouldn’t explicitly said their names I would have hardly guessed who those robots are, especially Megatron and StarScream.

Yeah, it’s a great flick for the kiddies because…well, what isn’t? But stepping beyond that and doing the series true justice - nope. The only real Transformers movie was released in 1986, and it’s probably going to remain that way as far as I’m concerned.
