Trans Fat and Meat

So the other day while looking at ground pork at the grocery store I noticed it said there was 0.1g of trans fat per serving and I went “Holy fuck, I thought trans fat was the devil, what gives?” so I checked the back of the ground beef package and it said 0.5g of trans fat per serving. Is this a different type of trans fat than the one found in fast food and the like or is something being added to the meat that shouldn’t be?

There is some trans fat found naturally in meat and I believe even milk. Nothing I would be worried about.

I have always read that trans fat isn’t a natural nutrient, it is man made. I work at a small fast food chain in the Midwest, I was shocked the other day when I looked at the package for our American cheese and saw 1 gram of trans fat per slice, I was under the impression trans fat has been pretty much eliminated from food.

How bad is trans fat?

Animal trans fats = Vaccenic acid
Satanic trans fats (Hydrogenated Oleic acid) = Elaidic acid

The latter is the ‘evil’ one, the former is found in animal products (I have heard that it may have heart healthy properties, but aside from the fact that I cannot recall where I heard that, is would also be very preliminary)

Ok cool I figured there must be some kind of difference. Thanks for confirming guys.
