Training Other Than "Whole Body HIT"?

Hi Bri,
I tried doing zones in place of regular reps for the middle section of 30-10-30 for a couple of sessions with cable bicep curls.
My feeling is that it is something worth exploring in the future alongside negative emphasised training , although not necessarily 30-10-30.
My reasoning is that there is a lot going on mentally during a 30-10-30 set and that adding something more complex than regular 1/2 reps for 10 reps is difficult to do consistently over time.
Maybe doing the zones at the start followed by a slow negative would be a better way to try it
I have also done sets with a static and a slow negative, which I have found a nice variant , albeit no more productive than any other protocol.

To add further, I once mailed with Brian Johnston re different takes on Zone Training. He didn’t like the idea of adding a 30 sec negative after regular zones. Too much of an inroad, also not necessary if you did your zones correctly. Brian was not into negative training, he said it never did much for him.

I’m with Brian on this. Real slow reps never did much for me; more rapid contractions, more reps, more muscle movement, more contractions per unit of time, short rest between sets, etc. works better for me…whether it’s through full-range, partials, etc.
