Just wanted to say I’m glad you’ve started posting so much, your advice is great. Just read your post in FarmerBretts log, excellent advice. Thanks.
Hey Fish sent you a PM

Tired , Weak , Feeling of dread because there’s nothing left in the tank. Just want to get it over with…Yep that sums it up.

Is that because of the previous lifting or not eating enough during the meet?

previous lifting, cns highs and lows, etc. you can eat all you want, but I have had meets where I have done my first squat at 9 a.m. and my last deadlift at 8 p.m. that makes for a long fucking day of lifting
bench press from pins dead stop(right @ sternum with slight arch) 295x3,3,3,3,2,2,2,5.
Sqauts pin press moved down 1 hole so now it is at the 13th.
500x5 3 sets
kayak rows x6 l,c,r is 1 rep
pushdowns x stack x15
db laterals 40x8
4 sets. Swole.
feeling good dropped the rack pulls because of adding in the power cleans on monday. Loving the routine allowing me to screw around and get a pump if I want or just go to conditioning as well.

Ok with this question it is important to note what the training effect the persom is after. Most people into powerlifting always train 1 main max effort lift a day right? Like Westside or a lot of periodizatin routines or even 5/3/1 which were all familiar with.
So when they go to a meet after their 1 week deload they are usually fried after the squat, so they barely get through the bench and are hoping not to injure themselves on the deadlift let alone set a PR.
We do these complexes 2 x week to help build their work capacity and recovery to help them lift strong on the bench/deadlift in competition–make sense?

How much of this do you feel is due to do with a lifter having a poor GPP level?
Gpp is too general alot of times and does nothing to address this issue, unless the GPP is under supervision of a team/coaches. Lifters by themselves will not push the conditioning side enough. But if we make the last part of a workout with weights conditioning then the lifter gets better and stronger. Try my complex and start @ 95 pds 3 sets of 5 reps after every workout and add 5 pds a month. Tell me after 6 months if you get tired lifting at a meet.
Did the complex today with a 10x3 rep scheme. Felt great afterwards.
Now on to the drinking and being merry!
bench press pin press worked up to 345x1 then got 315x3x2
chest supported rows 100x15 S/S skull crushers 115x15 4 sets
dbell shrugs (3 sec holds @ top) 75x15 S/S dbell laterals 30x15 3 sets
did complex 3x3 with 135 again.
Switching routine around to give my lower back a rest. Not recovering enough with 3 direct lower back exercises a week. Probally going to a westside style me/me/de -upper/loer/upper till my get starts to respond in a more positive light.
Front sqaut to parralel on box lift feet then press. 135x5x2,185x5,205x5,225x5,255x5,275x5,295x5,315x3,225x14. Breather on the last set
Rack pulls mid knee- 315x2x8 (8 sets of 2 ) all done very fast and explosive.
3 exercise metcon set.
leg press x20
leg extensionx20
leg curl x20
5 sets here.
Back is doing ok. Still dinkering with routines. Might go back to DC training to give the lower back a rest. (I can program alot of lower back stessors out of it.) We shall see.
Bweight 228
Since my log name got sheisted ? Whatever. Taught Bootcamp class tonight was alot of fun watching first timers go through the WTF is happening to my body expireince.

Yep. I know you advised me about this some months back, but I’ll admit that I just don’t like “conditioning.” I’ve actually considered hiring someone to kick my ass once a week in this area. I’ve got to do something about it.
SO true on the conditioning
I skip it all the time I need to move to something akin to Dan Johns one lift a day
and do a bunch of conditioning
I like the lifting feet front squat thing- good times.
I like how you can move your stuff around to keep it going.
very inspiring
I did do a TON of complexes today to warm up
and felt it all day
as for being in shape while competing - people wouldn’t believe the numbers/hours
in a nutshell 65 to 70 miles a week of road work
sprints/hills/stairs 5+ times a week +bw stuffs
( pushups crunches dips pullups all in the 100s per day)
3 hours of strength training ( read power cleans )
2 to 3 hours practice 5x a week
1 or 2 matches a week
little different from now ![]()
sorry for the hijack

Just do a “widowmaker” @ the end of your work. Pick 1 movement 1 per week and try to crank out more than 20 reps. That should start your road towards better conditioning and add sprints.

Can you clarify? So if I lift 4 times a week, you’re saying I should pick one movement (such as???) and do 20+ reps after each lifting session? Then the next week I should pick a different movement and do the same? What type of “movements” would these be?
To slowly start your conditioning and it will also actually help with strength in the exercise as well.
so week 1 finnish your benching then add in a 20 rep set where you go to failure.
week 2 sqauts same as bench
week 3 deads only go to 10 reps.
So same movements as the main lift or a close variation.
bench-close grip bench
sqaut-olympic close feet sqaut
deads–rack pulls
Hope this helps
Man I just got real confused with all the switching around of log names!

Right?
Whatever, just a log name.
I am starting to formulate a new program designed for me.
Based on: What I need
What I can handle
What I like
That is in order of importance.
I want to be big and huge and swole. I need to be lighter, agile and more mobile.
I am coming to terms that my back can’t take heavy loads with all the damage I have sustained in my years in the service and sports.
I have 4 slipped/bulged/herniated discs @ any given time going on. Plus with the pacemaker and nerve damage to my right side…So with that said I am going to put my thinking cap on and crack open some old dusty books and get to formulating.
