How is this any different than people on here claiming we should take the advice of “trainers” that weigh 160 and squat 315 just because they might know a lot?
Kinda like this thread:
So someone who squats almost twice their own bodyweight doesn’t know anything about training?
I wouldn’t listen to a 315 pound squatter for training advice. Of course I was squatting more than that at 18 and 132 pounds.

From the sounds of things, Kruiser and others are searching out everyone smaller and weaker than them for advice. I am wondering if it is safe to say that most of the people who hold that point of view probably wouldn’t impress too many people with their “achievement”.
I dont know about this subject: on one hand, its hard to imagine that you’d get first hand experience from someone who isn’t fit or strong about fitness or strength. Then again, it doesn’t mean that what they say is incorrect.
Take Mals example of a 160 pound guy who squats 315. Lets say he started out only being able to squat 100 lbs, and within a year worked himself up to 315. So, while he may have some knowledge about getting stronger, he doesnt have the experience of consistantly getting stronger over years.
Or the fat guy the OP talks about: he may actually know his shit, but never apply it himself. I mean, if a homeless crack addict tells a kid to stay in school, that doesnt make “stay in school” bad advice just because its coming from someone who didn’t follow it.
And, again, the fat guy, even if what he says is true, is just parroting what he’s heard; without firsthand experience to go along with it, it doesn’t mean a lot.
Can we forget about the how valid the guidance of the “do as I say not as I do” crowd is for a minute. The bottom line is the people asking these questions are not equipped to discern how sound anybody’s theory may be, but they can see that the big guys are… uh… big and have demonstrated that they undeniably have learned at least that much.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, maybe what he did isn’t best for someone else, but it sure as hell is a better bet that he can get you moving better than the chili dog chomping slob and has the advantage of not having to guess whether it works at all.
