I hope the spirit of their fight lives on to yield fruits of peace and prosperity for all sides of this godless conflict.

p.s. I believe you gentlemen should behave and discuss the potential success or futility of the american middle east campaigns not here but in an appr. thread like my “soldiers are soldiers” or a new thread.

Tough break Rogue. I think you’ll find the hardest part is preserving their name from those (on both sides) that wish to make political hay with them. Keep reminding these assholes that the people they are using were human fucking beings, not pawns. I’ve had to deal with people (I’m looking at you Quakers) who seem to think it’s okay to use my friend’s names to further their agenda even though my friends would be at odds with their agenda.
I also second Schwarz. Some guys around here need a lesson in tact. Keep the faith brother.
I know this is my first post, and this thread has gotten off topic, but I just want to let you know, Rogue57, that I have a great deal of respect and admiration for you and your platoon. Whatever a person’s views on the war or President Bush are, you have to respect the young men and women that put their lives on the line in order to accomplish the goals of the nation, no matter how corrupt or immoral they may be. In my short life, i’ve lost grandparents, cousins, and the like, but one of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with is the loss of one of my best friends. My prayers sincerely go out to you and the families of the men and women of your platoon.
I would love to be locked in a room with you for 5 minutes. I guarantee your swedish ass would not come out saying the shit you said. I would love for you to come and live just one day in the shoes of an American Soldier, and have one ounce of the Courage that all these men and women have.
I adore and respect anyone that will take to arms to protect their country and defend its people’s freedoms. Your unalienable right to say what you want to say without repercussions, is what I fight for daily.
Thanks for all the notes and prayers from all of you that sent them. I greatly appreciate it. You are the reason that I do what I do. Thanks for being great Americans!

She’s not an American, Rogue. She’s a cowardly Moroccan who blots to Sweden when she gets uncomfortable.
Wasting your typing time responding to her is pointless.
Well…unless you dig raping teenaged Iranian girls, and having them punished for being a slut. Lixy is into that shit.

I appreciate your respect for the Iraqi resistance.
How that translates into threats of violence against those who question you “defending Americas freedom” in a country 6000 miles away is beyond me-
If your friends died to defend Americas freedom they died in vain.
And I would tell that to your face, locked in a room or not.

I highly doubt your last statement. Neither you, nor your Swedish girlfriend would risk anything - especially bodily harm - for your beliefs. That is what separates Americans from euro-trash.

I would say it and have said it before.
I don’t wake up every morning thinking, “well, it’s another day of defending freedom and democracy”.
No soldier thinks that, not even Rogue, if he’s honest with himself.
All I care about is making sure my guys get the supplies they are escorting to and from their destinations safely, and after 15 months, we all go back home. I don’t give a crap about the Iraqis or their freedoms.

I would stay quiet confronted with someone who fights for the freedom to only say what armed thugs allow you to say and expects respect for that?
This is not so much a question of courage but the inability to keep my mouth shut when confronted with too much idiocy.
Plus, a lot of people find it quite hard to actually physically attack me when they see me in person. I might punch back.
