I guess it finally got to him that he directed such an over-hyped shitty film starring an equally over-hyped shitty actor.

The guy had inoperable brain cancer dick.

Brain cancer dick?

Seriously? …

Yeah, It’s my fault he had brain cancer.

Oh, and my it’s fault he took his own life, leaving behind a loving wife and kids… and a suicide note at his office… not to mention making his suicide very public.

My fault!

After working through all the hindsight-related platitudes does it really make Top Gun any less gay?

The man was in grave pain that would not leave till his death… decided to end his life earlier before shit got worse and you blast him for it? Have you had brain cancer? Have you been through I’m assuming was a major depression?

If you have not walked in another mans shoes and felt what he was going through, simply shut your mouth. Yes it’s wrong for him to leave his family early, but why should he stay on Earth to simply suffer every day till his death arrives? To please you? Trust me, when a family member is in pain and wants to die, everyone understands and rather him/her go before the pain gets worse. My grandfather recently died in the hospital, he asked to be taken off life support because he did not want to live a life in pain and unable to care for himself. Should I tell him fuck you? No, I completely understood his situation and decision. I guarantee his family is not hating on him for his decision and understand what he did. Or maybe or I’m completely wrong.

I’ve watched loved ones in pain die an agonizing death as well. I’m sorry for your grandfather.

No, we can’t know his pain, nor his exact mental state. But I don’t think jumping off a bridge within sight of strangers is the way to go. It’s a selfish mess left behind for others to clean up. I wouldn’t want my kids to know I left like that - so public for such a private time.

LOL Steely!

I think ID was making more of a jab at that idiot Tom Cruise and the movie Top Gun and not so much a jab at Tony Scott.

Tom Cruise isn’t overrated. Brad Pitt is!

Agreed, it wasn’t the right way to go. I hope none of us have those type of thoughts cross our minds in our lifetimes.

RIP and thanks for the good times.

More films should kickoff with Seger and a Ferrari…

I remember I was supposed to go see that movie with a buddy on opening weekend for a Saturday matinee. I was 13.
Anyway, I waited at the mall food court for the guy and he didn’t show up. No cell phones then so I didn’t know he wouldn’t make it till I got home.

Thing is I still haven’t seen the movie. I’d like to see it now, as at age 40…all that shit from the late 80s early 90s is very nostalgic for me.
