Top Gear in Alabama

Hammond recently wrote about the Top Gear visit to Alabama. I guess some people thought it was staged.

The episode:

I think it was a pretty stupid stunt.

I just curious why when something like that happens, people curse the ignorant rednecks, but when it a black neighborhood, then the people shouldnâ??t have been there.

Iâ??m sure that if you could do the same thing in an inner city neighborhood, or in china town.

Or how about if you wrote insults about soccer and soccer fanes then drove around a crowd of soccer hooligans?

It was terrible what those people did, but it isnâ??t isolated to rednecks or the south or to America, and what the top gear guys did was stupid.

I don’t think anyone would debate that “they shouldn’t have been there.” Especially with those decorated cars and camera crews.

People end up in the wrong neighborhood all the time. You just get the fuck out of there.

These guys clearly didn’t. I, for one, wouldn’t have felt sorry for them if they got their asses beat. I still laugh my ass off every time I watch it, though.

I thought it was pretty funny…

EDIT:

Let me rephrase that
was it funny? yes.
Was it surprising? no.
