Top 10 Metallica Songs

i couldnt possibly make a top ten, it would be hard enough for me to make a top 50. i connected with metallica at a young age, like 7 i think, and whether or not they have always been the cd in my cd player, they will always been my favorite band.

in fact, i think thats something that is so great about metallica, i can connect with a lot of music, from a lot of different bands, but metallica was the one that always “got me through______”.

I can make a top 10 easy enough, but to put them in order from greatest to least has proven to be too diffcult. So these are in no particular order:
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Harvester of Sorrow
Blackened
Sanitarium
Dyers Eve
Fade to Black
Battery
Breadfan
Nothing Else Matters
Master of Puppets

*St. Anger #11 (ok so getting a top 10 wasn’t so easy either)

You’re probably right there. Load and Reload actually had excellent lyrics yet those songs barely get a mention in the top 10’s.

I like the songs from Load & Reload, but you have to listen to them in a different way. It’s not as raw as the old stuff. James let Kirk & Jason do alot of that music…as they previously didn’t really have alot of input into the music. It was new Metallica. Not top 10 type stuff but I have the cd’s along with Garage Days revisited… alot of good songs on those cd’s. anything by Metallica is decent. But trying to compare Load to Master of Puppets is just Apples & Oranges. Not the same music at all.

Best one= That one that’s like CANNOT STAND THIS HEEEEELLLLL I FEEL SOMETHING SOMETHING IS FILLING ME TO THE POINT OF AGONY or something.

it may have been mentioned already, but metallica’s cover of “helpless” by diamondhead is pretty awesome too. as for me, i go through phases. i’m reallying into “dyer’s eve” and stuff off of AJFA right now.

but i don’t think i’ll ever like any metallica song as much as disposable heroes.

LOL!!!

Were you trying to sing?

The song is “Fade To Black” - Ride The Lightning

“Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting firther every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can’t be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he’s gone
No one but me can save myself, but it’s too late
Now I can’t think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye…”

I think the biggest mistake was making 2 albums when it could have been 1 very good album. They could have stuck the following songs in and it would have been solid IMO.

Off the top of my head…

  • Bleeding me
  • Fixxer
  • Outlaw
  • Until it sleeps
  • Fuel
  • The House that Jack Built
  • King Nothing
  • Bad Seed
  • Low Mans
  • Mama Said
  • Hero of the Day
  • Wasting my hate
  • Ronnie

We must have the same mama…

Those are my top two songs.
Something about Dyers Eve… just goes off inside of me.

1.One
2.Puppets
3.Fade to black
4.Hero of the day
5.Enter sandman
6.Justice
7.House that jack built
8.Until it sleeps
9.Orion
10.No leaf clover

Load is the most underated album ever.People piss and moan about how it not “hardcore” enough…just listen to it people its great.
But overall And justice for all is their best.

Peace

King of Kings

The funny bit is though, if I posed this question in some of those metal forums around, it would probably be a huge debate.

I particulary like Nothing else matters, like to play it in a darkened room just before i am going to train, just gets your head just right.

I totally agree with you on that one. I love to sit in the dark and jam Nothing else Matters after a long day witha cold one. Also, Fade to Black has helped clear my head from those nasty demons a number of times.

I can’t believe I forgot to include Nothing Else Matters. I’m gonna try listening to that tomorrow before I lift. That’s one of my favorite songs.

Do you think it’s time for a ‘Top 10 Megadeth Songs’?

I’m going to Gigantour next Tuesday night. Pity Metallica has only been out this way twice since the Black Album tour.
