I think the real danger lies in younger people consuming psychoactive compounds before their brains are fully mature. We’re talking approximately 25 years of age. This includes anything from Ritalin to SSRI’s to marijuana. In older populations intelligent use of marijuana (i.e. vaporizer) can still result in the formation of plaques in the brain, but the biggest concern is the inhibition of acute neural function. Honestly, do it if you want. I can’t stand the “stoner” culture, but I did plenty of worse things and I’m still a functioning member of society. I just don’t see why everyone feels so obligated to crusade how natural and harmless it is. Hell, opium use predates Christ, but it’s been awhile since someone tried to convince me of how much heroine would benefit my open mindedness.

On topic, most people under-consume protein. I’ve never met anyone who seemed to be over-consuming it, but judging by some recent threads the problem is rampant with T-Nation members. I always aim for at least 1xBW, but if I have the time to cook and my work schedule allows me to eat more, awesome.

It could possibly cause glucogenesis (protein converted to glucose) if you other macros are to low…I think you’ll be ok though.

On my medium carb days I’m still trying to be on a caloric surplus, but I’m still keeping my fat low on those days since I’m consuming carbs. So I may be getting 250g of carbs, 20g of fat = ~1200 calories. To get in a caloric surplus I’d need 1800+, which means upwards of 400g of protein, which is what I’ve been shooting for lately. Haven’t noticed any issues, but it does seem excessive. But more carbs seems excessive too (for a medium day), so I’ve been going with this much protein. Seems like the only way for things to add up. Any thoughts?

i dont think fats need to be that low, you’d be ok with 50g or so…
