Good. Now can you teach me how to power clean…
That was a joke. But I really do want to start doing the clean and press again. That was a fun movement. Maybe I should start doing some lightweight complexes with the bar.

I gotchu :winking_face_with_tongue:

I never got into Olympic lifting, not really my style right now tbh. So I’m probably not the best teacher for that one

Dumbbell Hammer Curls - 40 x 12, 40 x 12

Summary

Went to a commercial gym with a friend, the on campus gym of a university a little bit of a drive away from me so it made for a good afternoon trip today. Had a blast, it kind of had kid in a candy shop vibes because I didn’t really have anything specific to hit, really just enjoy doing things once in a while that I can’t do at home. Today that started out with a trap bar deadlift PR (from the actual actual floor, man I wish I had space and money for a deadlift platform lol). That rep went up super smooth too, I think my real PR is probably 10-20 pounds north of where I was at but I was happy with it! It’s rare for me to encounter a trap bar right now so I took advantage of it.

Did a a bit of back work, the lat pulldown was unbearably hard right at the bottom of the rep, which was a very interesting strength curve. The row machine is great too, maybe not my favorite but that might just be because it’s new. I was on a maxing out kick so I did try to do a five pound PR on flat bench but failed it after two attempts. After heavy deadlifts and a bunch of back work I’m not surprised at all…still…kinda disappointing lol.

The highlight of the day (other than the trap bar deadlift PR) was trying the SSB for the first time. Coming towards the end of the workout I didn’t go super heavy, just enough to feel a great pump and maybe go up to a point where it started to get heavy and the last few reps I’d slow down a bit but not unbearably fatiguing…didn’t want to completely fry my nervous system, and I could tell it was already suffering from everything else prior. Mostly I just wanted to try it and get a feel for it. And let me tell you, it was AWESOME. I absolutely loved it. More comfortable, I was hitting depth (granted it was lighter weight than my normal working sets, but still–it felt easier to hit depth) and it was just so nice to squat with it. This SSB was a Rogue, and they make fantastic equipment. 11/10 review from me, now I want one haha. Just an absolute treat to get to try it out and experience it, it felt really good. I think it might be because my torso felt more upright while I was at depth? But I’m not exactly sure right now why it felt good as much as I just know it did lol.

Anyway. That’s today’s bonus workout, mostly just a whatever happens, happens kind of day outside the normal split. A day to get to do some new stuff and hang with a friend, which was great since I typically don’t get out of the basement much haha. Off Sunday and Tuesday because of work, so I have some recovery time to play with. Back at it with my regular split later!

Ha we both missed 145 kg. Mine was because I became afraid and slowed my descent down and had no stretch reflex to touch and go it up. Yours is because you pre exhausted. In saying that I wasn’t aiming until a week out and only because I was man handling 110 incline and I remembered a friend of mine who could do 3 plates and his rep scheme with incline was 110 for that amount of reps.It wasn’t at the end of a cycle peaked and primed. Im not gonna try for a while. I barely touch flat bench and apart from that foray, haven’t in ages. It does do something touchy to my shoulders whereas incline doesn’t. Not optimal. I will try 150 in the future but that will require a 130 incline for 2-3.

Fantastic to see.

About time you started lifting properly

Always a good day when I go in with no expectations and hit a solid PR!

Hahaha I like it.

I am not telling you to suck eggs but you can get pretty close with a sheet of ply and two rubber mats from Bunnings.

If I had space and didn’t have crash pads I’d definitely be thinking seriously about building a platform! One day, maybe.

Cable Lateral Raises - 10 x 10, 10 x 10
Unilateral Cable Curls - 32.5 x 12, 32.5 x 10

Summary

Happy Brosday…today felt very gym bro-ish since I trained primarily chest and biceps on a Monday lol. Thankfully, courtesy of the home gym, I never have to wait for an open bench and I can curl in the squat rack to my little heart’s content haha.

Abbreviated session today because I was running out of time before work so I hit the essentials and had to run. Tried a cable lateral raise, I don’t think I’ve done that style before. Did this variation facing 90 degrees/perpendicular to the cable station and did one arm at a time while bracing the other hand on the tower for stability.

So the reason I was running short on time was primarily due to finishing up another project on the agenda for today, which was updating the gym setup…I finally attached my cable tower to my power rack. (!!) Since I can’t bolt my cable tower to a wall or to the floor in the space I’m at, I had previously hung two 100-pound plates from the back upright of the tower to weigh it down and keep it somewhat stationary, although I was still worried about its stability during movements where the cable was really low (basically all curls) and especially incline pushdowns with heavy weights. That’s why I haven’t done bilateral incline pushdowns in forever, because the weight is heavy enough and the angle is enough that it will tip on me even with 200 pounds on the back keeping it sort of on the ground. (Oftentimes I would do a slightly staggered stance during exercises and the front foot would be resting on the front of the cable tower in case it decided to start tipping at all lol.) Anyway, today I got a couple more crossmembers and an upright in place so that I can bolt the cable tower to that. So I essentially have a five post rack now, I guess? Lol. I chose this layout because it was easiest and still lets me utilize the entire rack. Here’s the after photo:

The curls and lateral raises felt amazing, the cable tower is solid and isn’t going anywhere. Huge win for the setup and I can utilize the cable station a bit better now since it’s a lot more stable.

On the plus side, it also gives me a bit more storage options too…I have some utility hooks on the back side of the crossmembers with my cable attachments and such, which helps cut down on clutter and keeps things close to where I need it. I also had enough space to hang my dip bar attachment on the back upright, which saves me even more space. *happy Moonflower noises lol * So excited about this! I also got a couple more cable attachments as well this week (single rope, tricep strap) so I’m probably going to be spamming some new variations with those as well soon. Fun times!!

Aw little flower has a list of grievances. That’s not a legit deadlift. From the floor. The crash pad excuse sure whatever but it’s just below Ur knee. Me insulting drug users has absolutely nothing to do with u btw. It’s to sort out who to listen to and who not to. I don’t care about enhanced. Strange to jump in and feel insulted as well,I’m betting theres avid Natty’s laughing at my ā€œdon’t take any crap from these idiotsā€ approach. As for comparisons,Ur bench is better. Everything else u aren’t as good. Who cares.

Honestly my only grievance tonight is that you’re a jerk and you keep infecting people’s logs and disrespecting them. Also ā€œlittle flowerā€ :joy: that’s funny man. Made my night haha

Didn't we already go over this?
but if you really want to go there...
yep drop down menus inside drop down menus lol...

Happy now?

Read what happened last time and stop fixating on this again. You’re not going to insult me by saying my deadlift isn’t legit, that’s irrelevant to me coming from you. I always value my results over your opinions.

The lack of self awareness is funny to me, since no one is actually listening to you.

Could’ve fooled me…weird you bring this up because you keep getting triggered and insulting anyone you even think is on gear (myself included, which is false) and you treat people badly and project a lot. If I didn’t know any better I’d say you care a lot about who’s enhanced and who isn’t. Actions speak louder than words, so I’m going with your actions on this one.

You’re a jerk to everyone and invade other people’s logs and make them pretty unpleasant and more like an insult fest that resembles a middle school playground. I’m not insulted, but when you contribute so negatively to the culture, why wouldn’t I post here and there and call out crap when I see it? If you think I’m following you around it’s probably only because you’re giving me an awful lot of material to work with. :man_shrugging:t2:

My only comparison is with my own progress and my own journey and with being the best I can be, in my own gym, just me. Your opinion is irrelevant.

here's how I compare myself, if you really want to know....

I don’t appreciate disrespect or people being jerks in my log, to me or to anyone else. Be better than that, your behavior has no place in this thread. If you want to badmouth others and make that into a fine art, do it in your own log so that people can ignore you better.

Tldr. How come there’s double posting in this new fangled format. Admit it you spent 10-15 mins mulling over when I took 1 look and thought nothing of. 10 sec max, cabron.

Lol me parece que o bien te saltaste la lectura de esto o quizĆ”s yo tenga mĆ”s razón de lo que admites…

Nah I had pretty much the whole thing mentally composed in about thirty seconds.
