Tired of these damn politics, man

No, it was the creepy language about how the kid is smarter then his peers and shouldn’t listen to other grown-ups, while positioning himself as a “neutral” authority.

“. . . any sense to me”

Fixed it.

Bitch, I deadlift more than you in heels and Sugarpill Vertigo lipstick.

“Female” is not an insult to men.

So did you.

I’m confused about what your approach is here.

Also who is the femtard?

Baiting.

Probably Emily, She and Andrew have clashed swords couple times over subjects related to gender/sex.

Me!

It would be cool, if you could get official Tnation femtard -badge to your avatar. I could grab one too.

Going to shoot some femtards?

(Just pulling your leg)

Well, that was interesting.

I appreciate people who realize we’re trying to build a society here.

I think this place is fun. Political rhetorics and themes differ in US so much compared to where I live.

And OP did ask some good questions, and got some good answers too, but then internet happened and some stuff got pretty wild. And it was entertaining at least.

Too many subjects for any real discussion.

I get the feeling that I missed a bunch of deleted posts. Probably not a bad thing based on the posts that are left.

Thought I’d share a different perspective.

To me, politics are but a distraction and obfuscation. To keep people busy and engaged in a state of perma-stress. To serve the divide and conquer agenda of those who wield true power and look down on us “peons”. No matter which party or ideology wins, the peons never win. I grew up dirt poor and subscribe to self-reliance and accountability. Doesn’t jive all too well with the way that I consider the mainstream system is built and run.

I’m mid-40s / late-40s. Back in the aughts, I considered myself to be liberal. Because I equated liberalism with freedom. Then, I started to find more solace in conservatism and libertarianism. Still, I felt the need for a strong nation state, which libertarians seem to have a problem with. Socialism/Marxism/Leninism and what have you never jived with me, I always considered them to be another divide and conquer instrument. Same as crony-capitalism / corporatism. My core values didn’t change in the last 20+ years but the world around me sure did. I don’t want to be responsible for people that are too far out of my circle of influence or that don’t share my core values. Having lived and worked in different countries and cultures only reinforced my position. My 20-ish younger self might’ve labeled me a racist, but my international and intercultural experiences have taught me that I feel most comfortable among my own people, that is, White people. Doesn’t mean I harbor any ill will towards Non-Whites. And I make exceptions on an individual basis, of course. And no, I don’t believe there’s a Global Jewish Conspiracy, either.

Instead of trying to find common ground with as much folks as possible, I just ensured I could do my own thing. So, in my early 30s, I decided to lay the groundwork for disengaging from the mainstream system. That meant building the skills that would allow me to open my own business. Which I did. I then proceeded to buy land in the boonies where regulations are lax and started to skill up on DIY infrastructure skills. Now I can run my own business from anywhere in the world as in information worker (STEM-related), thrive in a barter economy, build solar systems, dig a well, build a house and grow my food. I can also operate heavy machinery.

We own our property outright and wouldn’t lose our house if I stopped generating an income.

In the process, I met like-minded folks. We homeschool / unschool our kids, still interact with mainstream society if and when we feel like it, otherwise, we’re a loosely knit community of individual off-grid homesteads doing our respective thing. Most of us have backgrounds in tech, the military and healthcare. We still have friends within mainstream society. And even inspired some to transition into similar lifestyles. But we’ve built enough buffers that, short of a nuclear war, we’d pretty much be able to weather most storms. Bonus points: we don’t expose our kids to an education system that’s been co-opted by insanity and that engages in actual racism by calling it anti-racism.

As a result of all of the above, we don’t care about Trump or Newsom, ICE or drug cartels taking over regions of the country. Nor about blue-haired crazy people or MAGA folks.

Yeah I’ve heard that before. That politics is just divide and conquer. I think part of me wishes it wasn’t true but I know it is.

I want to, eventually, have my own plot of land, and have a sort of homestead. I know I probably think of it in an idealized way, but I still want it.

I’ve finally found someone who gets it. I don’t have a problem with non-whites, I just like being around white people.

Eventually I would like to, if not build a homestead, build my own house where its not wired up to the grid, still near civilization but not so near that its in it.

I find it amusing when you see college age kids jumping head long into certain political subjects. Especially when they have no experience regarding the issue in question. Case in point..when you see certain ones carrying on about the greatness of socialism and the struggles of the working class. Give me a break… i will bet a majority are from upper middle class white collar families. Some of which have never worked a physical job or a job at all.

Same, but also adults who have done no research on politics and consider watching “the news” to be enough to be informed.

Oh I agree on that.

Just to play devil’s advocate - I see this as a good thing. A number of the people who signed the Declaration of Independance and wrote the constitution were in their 20’s and 30’s.

And Jefferson argued that “the earth belongs to the living, not the dead", (I love that quote). He proposed that every constitution and law should naturally expire after 19 years to prevent “generational tyranny,” ensuring no generation is burdened by the debts or dictates of its ancestors.

Remember that America was started as a young radical political experiment.

Ehh . . Maybe I’m biased because I kind of straddled both going through college(s) and trade school, but with how things shift, this isn’t the hard division it used to be decades ago.

But those in their 20-30s in history lived the life of a real adult.

These college kids are pampered.

@Brant_Drake
I also went to college but when I already worked, owned a home etc on my own and much later in life. No time for silly time wasting protests, I had bills.
