Time to Nut up or Shut up

Hey, Mighty. What’s up? How are did your meet go/your hormones? What did you total, and what was your individual lifts?

I am signing up for a meet in the fall, I’ve pulled 390X2 twice the first time I could do it for a triple a few weeks ago, and this time (last friday) I smoked it and pulled it with perfect form and could probably easily do 390X4. Some people noted I had perfect deadlift form (legitimately strong people did. They were really nice. ). My squat has just been volume work/frontsquats/boxsquats since I have been running Coan phillipi. And I have benched 270, and got 245X2 close grip. I am also up to 184 now at 5"8.75.
Hey man! Meet went pretty good! I have video of the whole thing at the top of this page with all the info. Hormones are still something I’m dealing with. How about yourself?

Good job on the weight gain. You’re not a fatass now are you? I gotta make sure your deadlift doesn’t get higher than mine!

Uh, they seemed to be normal then got suddenly worse recently. I’ll go to the doctor, and push to get my hormones tested. I also have another thing (something related to my digestive system) I need to get checked out, so I will probably go this week for each.

Hah, I am still not a fat ass. I am pushing it though, I still have some abs while unrelaxed, but I plan on maintaining my weight and seeing if I can recomp over the summer (I want to work on my squat before the fall meet I have planned so I am doing that instead of cutting). I guess you could say I am becoming “full house”. lol

Oh, if your recovery can take it I recommend try coan phillipi. It has really helped hone in on my form and weakness off of the floor with my really stiff troy barbell. I pulled a double that was a PR and 5 pounds off off of max, and I think I could of gotten it for a three. This was in week four of the program.

I will be pulling 20 pounds over my previous max for a double this friday, and I think I can do it.

And yes, you should really push to stop me from out pulling you.

4/30 - Wednesday - Bench 3’s

Hope you get your health sorted out. You’re to young for that shit! And I dunno about that deadlift routine! Maybe if I stall, but we’ll see what happens.

5/2 - Friday - Squat 3’s / Playoff Hockey Game - Quarterfinal

Continued on with just the required reps. Top set felt really good and I probably couldve done a good 7-8 reps beltless. Also had first playoff game this session at night.

HB Squat
180 x 3
205 x 3
230 x 3
180 x 10 - Paused

Front Squat
155 x 5 x 5 - Completed in 7:25 (density training)

Ab Wheel
BW x 20 x 3

Single Leg Lying Leg Curl
30 x 12 x 3

Pull Ups
5 x 5

Hockey Game
2 Goals / 22 minutes played and won 4-1!

1st goal was my second breakaway chance and I decided to shoot earlier this time and shoved it through the five hole.

2nd goal was in front of net and deflected a slap shot on the ice to top shelf left corner.

Hey Mighty…when you do your floor presses do you use the same grip as you do for your regular bench ?

Nice on the goals.

We start our playoffs this weekend.

Yep, close grip with the index fingers right at the smooth part. I try to make it as similar to my bench as I can.

Thanks bud! I dont really score a ton but that was my second 2 goal game this session.

How is your team doing? What about you?

Do you practice your floor presses with legs out flat to eliminate leg drive too ?
tredaway wrote:

Nope, I keep my knees up which allows me to get an arch. That and they can get in the way if I keep them straight! Although it would be kind of funny if someone tripped over me…

Do you ride your stick after scoring or do back spins on the ice? Do you act like you have been there before or do you go cray cray.

No, I’m pretty boring actually. Usually I either do nothing or I do a little fist pump. My team told me I should be more excited after my 2nd goal…lol

5/5 - Monday - Deadlift 531

Pushed the SLDL pretty hard and got a rep PR.

Deadlift
275 x 5
310 x 3
345 x 3

3" Deficit SLDL
255 x 5
285 x 5
300 x 5 - PR

Single Leg Extension
30 x 20 x 2

HS MTS Row
110 x 15 x 3

Jump Rope / Rolling Plank / DB Swing
100 x 3 / 20 x 3 / 50 x 15 x 3

Spin Cycle Sprints
10 seconds x 5 w/ 50 second rests

That’s because you act like you’ve scored before in your life.

We lost our first playoff game, now it’s win or go home.

We’ll find out Friday night.

Hey, could you drop me an email at the address in my hub? I have friends moving to Dallas and they’re looking for hockey league info.

I was right, I got 415X2 for the deadlift. It was with shitty form though, so I am kind of displeased that I got myself worked up enough for the set that I couldn’t keep my form solid. Off to go pull 435+ in a couple weeks!

Crazy mofo… How long are your arms?

Shit, Imma have to start pushing my deadlift so you dont beat me! Nah…I’ll coast for a while and let you have some glory first!

I’ve got more of a deadlift build so I guess a little longer than usual but…I think my wingspan is pretty much the same as my height. Maybe just a little longer.

5/7 - Wednesday - Bench 531

Both racks were open so I went ahead and did the floor press first. The later in my workout I get the harder is to get one. Did more than prescribed reps but still left a lot in the tank. I think the training maxes are all around 85%.

CG Floor Press
140 x 5
157.5 x 3
175 x 5 RPE @ 7
140 x 10

CG Bench
155 x 5
177.5 x 3
197.5 x 5 RPE @ 7.5
155 x 10

Pinwheel Curl / Side Raises
30 x 15 x 3 / 12.5 x 15 x 3

Rope Pushdown
80 x 15,15,12

Stir the Pot
20 x 3

Treadmill Hill Sprints
9 mph x 10 seconds x 8 @ 13% incline w/20 second rests

5/9 - Friday - Squat 531

High bar is feeling really good. Even though I’m slowly losing weight and not pushing the main lift, I feel as strong or stronger somehow. Pushed fronts today and got a fairly easy rep PR.

HB Squat
190 x 5
215 x 3
240 x 3 RPE @ 7
190 x 8 - Paused

Front Squat
155 x 5
165 x 5
175 x 5
185 x 5 - PR

Lat Pulldown
105 x 10
120 x 10
135 x 10
105 x 15

Single Leg Lying Leg Curl
30 x 12 x 3

Pallof Press / Stir the Pot
25 x 10 x 3 / 10 x 3

Spin Cycle Sprints
10 seconds x 6 with 40 second rests

Great on that front squat PR. What benefits are you getting from the front squats for your lifts? Also, I started a log up if you want to check it out.

Thanks! IMO the front squat builds my high bar, and the high bar builds my low bar. I just think in general the front squat is a pretty badass exercise so therefore I do it!
