Time to Nut up or Shut up

8/3 - Saturday - Quickie before wedding

farmer walks- 75s x a couple of trips. Not including the trip it takes to get the dbs to the b-ball court…maybe I should.

Girl on our hockey team got married. Wedding was held in the reception room, which was a first for me. It was nice though to not have to go drive somewhere after the ceremony.

Or twenty rep front squats done ‘breathing squat style’. This long must deliver!

Sorry, but deadlifts are my foreplay. Can’t get it up without them.

Thats just brutal! No way I could keep form doing that. But…I’ve been tempted to do that with the back squats. I’ve had some weeks of 15+ reps. Maybe on the 5s week this cycle I’ll do that instead of the joker sets.

I should probably up the weight more starting next cycle though. I’ve got a meet November 16th and will only be doing 3 more cycles including the one I started last week. I’m glad I started out with such a light training max as I feel the high reps have really helped.

Oh also…I may have a screwed up thyroid. Got a TSH test done and it was 14. Ideally it should probably be as low as 3 at least. Got another test done 5 days later (Thursday) and am waiting on results. I just recently got done experimenting with iodine, so that could’ve been the cause for it being that high. If it still comes back high then I will get a full thyroid panel done and check antibodies to see if I have Hashimotos/hypothyroid. Will be getting testosterone results back too.

I’ve personally had my vision get black spots when front squatting for 12 reps. I would recommend some of those spud strap safeties to pass out in if you try a 20 rep set of front squats.

Good luck, Mighty. I hope you don’t have anything serious, and you benefit from sorting this stuff out.

Got my blood work results today. TSH is down from 14.1 to 9.2 already. Still well in hypothyroid range, but it may even go down further. I think my extreme use of iodine was the reason it got so high, so I’m really hoping it can get down to a more normal level here soon.

I was told my testosterone was “normal”…but it definitely was not when I asked how much specifically. It was 421 ng/dl! I know it can fluctuate a lot but damn…thats sad for a strong 28yr old male… I’m really hoping it was that low because the day before I had a pretty intense deadlift session, which can apparently lower t levels for a few days after. Also, hypothyroidism can effect t levels so that could be why too.

So yea, I’m happy that my TSH dropped down so quickly, but am a little worried about my testosterone results.

8/5 - Monday - Squat C12W1

Knew today probably wouldn’t be good since I didn’t eat as much the last few days and only got 4 hours of sleep last night. Had another date! Anyway, I could’ve grinded a few more on the top set, but I left them in the tank.

Trying hard to make some lifestyle changes in order to get all my hormone levels back to normal again.

Need to get in bed a little sooner and get longer quality sleep.
Eat more frequently and more than I burn everyday to make life easier on my adrenals.
Reduce stress in general and try to stop being anxious all the time.
Laugh more.
Expand my knowledge and break out of my routine more often.

And…have sex with my girlfriend…after deadlifts of course! So yea, I think I have a gf now. She threw the boyfriend word out last time she was over

So yea, just some things that can help my body heal hopefully.

8/9 - Friday - Deadlifts C12W2

Meh…was pretty weak and didn’t even go for max reps. Had a late hockey game the previous night and didn’t get much sleep, so that was probably a huge factor in the shittyness of the workout. Also, the hook grip hurt like a bitch today! No video worth posting.

For some reason I have seemingly lost the ability to use my belt properly when deadlifting. Guess it might be the weight gain I’ve had recently…I dunno. Don’t like using belts a lot, but I may need to use it more often to get reacquainted with it.

Deadlift
300 x 5
320 x 5
340 x 5 (Not sure I had anymore than 7 in me…terrible workout.)

Front Squat
95,115,135,155 x 5
175 x 5 (belt)
185 x 3 (belt. I know I couldve grinded at least one more, but was out in the open with no safety bars.)

SL Lying Leg Curl
30 x 12 x 3

Time to go to a “longevity” clinic
were the high TSH levels giving you a lot of issues?

The only real problem I noticed was my throat was hurting and a little swelled up. Mostly from the iodine I guess. Everything feels okay now so we’ll see what happens in the next 6-12 weeks(until next blood test). I really think I can get my testosterone back up with some of the lifestyle changes I was talking about earlier. I really really don’t want to start taking testosterone at such a young age.

8/13 - Monday - Bench C12W2

Figured I wouldn’t be at full strength today after going to bed 4 1/2 hours later and not getting much sleep. I also went to the waterpark before which made me a little tired.

CG Bench
122.5 x 5
142.5 x 5
162.5 x 12 (Only 1-2 more in me at the most)
180 x 5
200 x 1
140 x 10 x 2

Seated Cable Row
75,95,105,120,135 x 10

Free Motion Fly
35 x 15 x 3

HS Shrug
205 x 25 x 2

8/14 - Wednesday - Squat C12W2

This was my last “hard” workout for a while. I’ll be taking a long deload starting next week with perhaps a week or two of no lifting…shoot me now! Really hoping this helps me feel like myself again.

LB Squat
160 x 5
185 x 5
210 x 12 (1-2 left at most. Not really a good day.)
HB Squat
145 x 10

Good Morning
95 x 10 x 2

Been a week now since I’ve been to the gym. Had a playoff hockey game Saturday night, but thats the only hard exercise I’ve done. Not sure how much time I plan to take off, but I’m thinking at least till the end of August.

Relaxing a little more by playing the guitar, reading, napping, and just trying to laugh more often. Having a girlfriend helps too. Reading “The Importance of being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde now.

Should I do the chinese fire drill with my gf? She kept bugging me about it last time we were driving around, but I think I’m to old for that shit…lol

Alright, so I’m gonna resume going to the gym starting next Monday with just 2 strength training days a week. Will probably do 531 still, but with a light training max and just the prescribed reps. Gonna give it some time before doing those intense top sets again. Will be taking a break from low bar squats and do high bar instead. Really I feel like just doing dumbbell pressing for a while may be good for the joints, but we shall see. Deadlifts have always been comfortable to me so will be keeping them in like usual.

No matter what I do this will be the format…

Monday- lower (hb squat and deadlift rotated)
Thursday- upper (bench and press rotated)
Saturday- Hockey game or sprints if no game. May have some games on Thursday or Friday as well.

So far I don’t really feel much different, but hopefully soon I’ll notice improvement.

9/9 - Monday - Front Squat C1W1

Finally getting back at it, even though I’m moving some very light weights right now. Nonetheless, I’m excited to be lifting again. Running the front squat as a main lift for a while. In general, I’m just starting all over and counting this as my 1st cycle of a new stage. Running the weeks in the 531 order instead of 351 that I was doing. Also only doing prescribed reps with a very light training max.

Front Squat
115 x 5
127.5 x 5
145 x 5

High Bar Squat
115 x 10 x 3

Snatch Grip SLDL
95 x 10
125 x 10
155 x 10

Farmer Walks

Ab Wheel 15 x 3
