So if people are in agreement that things are pretty f’ed up overall, how about some honest opinions on how to get this “playing field” a little more level? To elaborate, how about some REASONABLE ideas: beefing up education, more/less Affirmative Action, etc. Anything that comes to mind.

I did and call it what you want, but it sounds like there is resentment towards, not necessarily me, but everyone in general. I DON’T discriminate if you’re black, well qualified and professional, damn staright you would get the job before anyone else not up to your standards. However I’m not in charge, its just some other cracker, right? He seems to feel like he’s had to work harder than anyone else because hes black. Everyone has to work hard to get where they’re at. Ya know its funny how almost an entire culture can come here barly speaking English(Asain)and flourish. While the other that has been here nearly fail,(as a whole). Whites are just as notourious for being “lazy” as African Americans. The difference is Afro Americans feel something is owed to them. No, I didn’t know what King’s drug levels were at the time of his arrest. I just didn’t feel to sorry for him after hearing about the trouble he seems to get into. Unless your country has dealt with slavery in its past and is now dealing with inevitable repercussions of it, I don’t see why this is so hard for you to understand. This country was started with unfair practices that were considered a norm at the time and is still dealing with many of those issues. You would only have a point if this was not the case and we all started on equal ground. Hopefully, in the near future there will be no need for any programs like this because the playing field will be equal.

what is wrong with some people? black magazines, black television networks, etc. exist for one reason: to make money. who cares if they exist or not. it’s not racist, it’s smart. a segment of the population is not being served by mainstream media (magazines, tv shows exist for one reason only: to provide medicine (advertisements) in a sugar coated package). so since most media outfits, rightfully so, choose to target the most prominent and affluent group of consumers, that means that other groups, small compared to the majority of course but still large in number, call for a different marketing strategy. for most minorities, celebrating their own group’s successes, cultural heritage, and individuality is very important to them so these media producers take advantage of that. taking advantage of a situation that results in financial success…yeah, that’s really a horrible thing. people minding their own business and getting enjoyment out of a magazine, tv show, etc…again, what a shame. suggestion: focus this anger you have for this stupid shit into something useful. there are so many other things to rant about from why we spend about half the year working to fund the federal government to why the frig do we have to watch commercials before movies now (sometimes four or five) when i just spent about $10 on a ticket. now that’s something to get pissed about.

If you believe that reverse racism is both justified and inevitable, than you are admitting that you are just as ignorant and intolerant as those people we read about in the history books. There is no justification for open racism against any group. If you disagree, I would say, “Congratulations, you have learned nothing from history.” Worse, you will achieve negative results. As you claim to understand, the legacy of any form of racism is bitterness.
I want you to answer a few questions, Number one: “Are there black racists?” Number two: Is the white man the only race capable of racism and subjugation of the black man?
If you say no to the first question, and yes to the second, I would like you to employ a few of the research techniques that you champion. For instance, I would like to give you a few homework projects. First, I would like you to look up a certain book that lists prominent blacks in the antebellum period that owned black slaves. I would like you to read about who captured black slaves and brought them to the coast of Africa for transportation to the colonies. Finally, have you ever heard of the slave trade that is alive and well in Sudan in 2002?
Every human has a choice, he/she can continue to propagate hatred and intolerance, or he/she can rise above ignorance and better society as a whole. No one race has the monopoly on evil or virtue. No race is free of guilt. In a peverse way, it is a good thing because it is another similarity that we can point to. We can use our common experiences to better mankind. But, we must choose the path of tolerance and acceptance.
You are absolutly right. The population has become deterministic on the minorities. This is seen everywhere. And for the first time in history, caucasions- the majority, have to take a back seat. How is this democracy? Although i have no problem with races or cultures creating their own television shows, movies, magazines, etc, it would be nice if they afford us the same luxtury instead of always playing the race card in responce to a move toward an entirly white event or subject. There are already tons of magazines, TV show, websites, clothing, etc. for health and fitness enthusiasts. Now this minority of ‘bodybuilders’ interested in health and fitness want their own friggin’ magazines and websites and stuff. These bodybuilding mags make damned sure there are none of us average health and fitness people on the covers. If we tried to have a magazine or website that only showed regular health and fitness people, all of the bodybuilders would go ballistic – they would probably sue. It’s bullshit and I’m tired of bodybuilders complaining of how suppressed they are.
I’m also sick of their endless rant of how back in the day they were looked at as freaks and how they even had to have their own gyms and stuff. This is now 2002 and any bodybuilder can walk right in to a Bally’s if they want but no, they want to segregate themselves by having their own ‘hardcore’ gyms. What kind of crap is that? Don’t they realize that the more they segregate themselves, the less regular health and fitness people will accept them?

If affirmative action is designed to place a certain percentage of minorities respective to their quantitative representation of our overall population into careers, then why is NOT the NBA for example dominated by white players.
