Tiger King Discussion

The most frustrating part for me (which was touched on at the end of the show) — and I know I’m gonna sounds like a hippy — was that Carol and Joe spent all this money trying to fuck each other over, when they could have spent it on actual conservation efforts.

I unfortunately have very little sympathy for a lot of everyone’s stupid decisions in the show. You make your bed, you can lie in it.

While I think some on the show cared about the plight of the tigers and other animals, I think money (money / women for Antle and Jeff) was the main reason they were doing this.

Joe after Saff gets his hand shredded “I am never going to financially recover from this”. I don’t think I would think about money at all in that situation.

I could instantly see though Carol’s unethical volunteer / intern program. Some of these people were working long hours for a whole tourist season for nothing. They actually cared for the animals, and she took advantage of it.

Edit to add:

I watched a few episodes with my wife. I had a slightly depressed mood during and for some time after.

I just saw this. Lot’s of things went differently than the show portrayed. I thought Travis’ death was suicide. Sounds like it was an accident, but he should perhaps be nominated for a Darwin award.

I’ve heard a few people say this, but did not feel depressed myself. Maybe the dark comedy of show was enough to offset my feelings.

What specifically did you find depressing? The plight of the animals? The shitty existence of most of the characters?

All that, and the utter dysfunction.
