Edit - Switch Ten Years Gone with this nasty little version of Black Dog from the Epic May, 1975 Earls Court shows.
Led Zeppelin is the tits! What a great thread…
I’m not sure I could get along with someone who dislikes LZ. There has to be some sort of genetic defect involved…

Oh I’m sure we have a handful of them here.

I like how in the earliest of Zep performances, the audiences seem less than enthusiastic. I attribute that to the fact that Zep was bringing something new and intimidating to some degree, and the public wasn’t sure how to take it in yet.
I attribute it to the fact that everybody was stoned.

I know, I know. It’s hard to tell someone their opinion is “wrong”, but when someone says they hate LZ their opinion is most certainly WRONG. LOL

No, I’m talking about the earliest gigs. I’ve seen old black & white footage and the audience almost seemed like proper and polite Brits.
Take a listen to the BBC Sessions disks. Same thing. Polite clapping and none of that “whhhhaaahhhh” you always heard at their later shows.

I bet you’re talking about that scandinavian radio broadcast where the kids all sit on the floor in a circle around them as they do 4 songs (D&C,comm. breakdown,HMMT, good/bad times) off their first album…yeah those kids where pretty stiff.
Robert Plant’s birthday on the 20th of this month. Timely thread. He is 62.

As in yesterday? Real timely post…
“I’m Gonna Crawl”
This song just played on my iTunes in shuffle mode and it kind of surprised me. I haven’t listened to “In Through The Out Door” in a few years, but just hearing “I’m Gonna Crawl” has left me with a sense of nostalgia for the year ITTOD was released.
I remember playing that album in my room in the winter of '79 and noting to myself that “I’m Gonna Crawl” was THE stand-out on the vinyl. Whereas most of the album had a near synth-pop feel, “I’m Gonna Crawl” was a gut-wrenching blues. The solo, IMO, was one of Page’s best for capturing that deep emotion.
Plant has been playing with his “Band of Joy” in the UK The Sun . The guitarist, Buddy Miller is an amazing axeman who played on Raising Sand.

Bad link.
fixed.
they’ve been playing US dates to great reviews also. Doing Zep songs including misty mountain hop and thank-you .
Buddy Miller is amazing. He’s one of these guys who you’ve heard, but you never knew you heard. Like Brent Mason.

Bought it hardcover when it first came out ;)
Well, shit… You got me beat! Zep is the best band of all time and I don’t really think it’s up for debate. The amount of quality music they put out is fucking insane.
yea, that book was pretty good, but you should prioritize and read ‘Stairway to Heaven’ written by…RICHARD COLE the tour manager, aka the 6th member of the band. That book has insight baby and you can take every page to the bank since it was written by such a credible person.
<<<<<<<<<–Led Zeppelin FOR EVER–>>>>>>>>
I’ll try and find it this weekend. Cole was one of my favorite “characters” from Hammer.
