Arnold calls the Democrats “girlie men”. He apparently said this in a speech…
“If they don’t have the guts to come up here in front of you and say, 'I don’t want to represent you, I want to represent those special interests, the unions, the trial lawyers … if they don’t have the guts, I call them girlie men,” Schwarzenegger said to the cheering crowd at a mall food court in Ontario.
We might make fun of him, but he speaks his mind like a true T-Man, political correctness be damned. I think I’ll send him a letter of support.
People need to remember that there are these things called “jokes” and that even politicians and judges should be allowed to make them.
In this case, I think it’s rather obvious Schwarzenegger was referencing the old SNL skit “Hans & Franz”, which used to constantly reference him as “Cousin Ah-nold” - basically engaging in self parody of the same type he was using when he encouraged the voters to “Terminate” intransigent Dems in November.
Some people are always in search of the next thing that will offend them – and they always seem to find it…
It’s a non-story, like the so-called Bush Hate Fest (the Whoopi Goldberg contoversey). It’s much ado about nothing.
However, Arnold would be well-advised to avoid remarks like this, which play into some of the pre-existing stereotypes, or I suspect his political career will resemble Jesse “the Body” Ventura’s.
