Thoughts on the Following Oils

My grocery store now carries Walnut Oil, Hazelnut Oil, and Avocado oil
which of these has the most potential health benefits?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have used mac nut oil…and olive oil but these would provide an alternative source for me to get extra healthy fats

In all of the studies conducted showing that the Mediterranean diet is conducive to health and long life, most of the families surveyed used olive oil.

Walnut oil is chock full of omega 3’s which are ridiculously rare in the modern american diet. Problem is, you can’t really cook with walnut oil or it goes rancid, so it’s kind of a waste (unless you like taking shots of it w/ meals).

Personally, i’d just stick with whole walnuts.

im kind of curious about the avocado oil…even tho i would much rather just eat one

I guess the only difference between the whole walnuts, or whole avocado would be the carbs…if you are following a low carb diet

I just thought these would be easy to mix in shakes…
so…I dont have to cook with walnut oil…

Also-
would you guys suggest Walnut Oil over flax oil??..since the conversion rate in flax of DHA/EPA and Omega 3’s is something like 5-10% (read this on a post by Thibadeau)

Where do you get the information about cooking with walnut oil?

It’s not used in high heat cooking, but most people cook too hot anyhow, turn down the pan.

There are links at the bottom of that for other oils as well.

Avocado oil, very high smoke point, great for cooking, tastes really good too.

I use walnut oil on veggies, salads, low heat cooking, like olive oil. Omega 3’s + nutty flavor is awesome.

Olive oil, low heat cooking, dressings, veggies, etc.

Coconut oil, saturated fats, high heat cooking, tastes good.

thanks pozzska that were some great pointers…

I plan on trying some walnut oil when I go to the store I will pick up a bottle.

Do you know off hand if the Omega 3’s in walnut oil are readily//efficiently converted…or do you lose some of the benefits like flax (5-10% conversion rate)?
