This is Why I Stand

Swing and a miss. If you think I was proposing other issues to seriously protest about you lack reading comprehension and critical thinking. You were the one proposing to bring light to disparity, not me. Shine on your crazy diamond. Go get it.

And those disparities I mentioned aren’t about other issues, they are directly related to the same issue only they destroy your narrative.

I didn’t say there weren’t consequences.

See @Drew1411’s reply. On your own time means while you are not at work. On your own dime means actively investing in your cause, not losing your multimillion dollar contract as an unintended consequence of your actions.

No, but there is a prevalent message from some that people should.

I (or anybody for that matter) can have and experience empathy for something without having to be directly involved.

I have my own problems and causes, which I actively work toward solving. Do I need to involve you or anybody else to do that?

My answer is No. I don’t. I really don’t expect you to give a crap. If you (universal, not specific) do, that is fine, but you won’t find me pandering for support to help drug addicts or disabled veterans.

Well, he sat and goofed off and wore pig cop socks, and derided the US as evil and racist, and supported murderous, oppressive, Anti-US regimes, and put himself above his team, ect. It’s not like the guy just kneeled.

And for the record, yes, Hispanic is legally defined as a culture though it is asked about in race check boxes.

  1. These are simply the facts of the situation and have nothing at all to do with race beyond categorization. How stating facts makes you a racist I’ll never understand.

It’s about 40% in 2013:

I don’t think anyone in the history of this website has ever said racism isn’t a “thing” in the United States.

Where I think the disconnect exists is:

  1. 90% of all black murder victims are killed by other black people
  2. The above murders are measured in thousands
  3. The number of people killed by police officers, while difficult to determine, is not even a thousand per year (according to WAPO anyway). The majority of which are white people being killed.
  4. Many/most of the above are justifiable use of force
  5. There’s no discrepancy between lethal use of force by race according to the Harvard study linked below.
  6. No one “took a knee” for #1. Frankly, no one in the public eye seems to really care about #1.
  7. Guys like Terrell Suggs taking a knee for “injustice” is quite hypocritical based on his past.

So, here we are…

I don’t believe anything. The facts tell me that they are “inherently more violent or predisposed to criminal activity”.

There sure seems to be something wrong with how things work over there. I wouldn’t call it racism though, the definition of racism is…

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

It seems to me that the animosity against African Americans stem from a mix of cultural beliefs/stereotypes and sheer facts. I find it hard to believe that there are that many people who sincerely believe that they are better simply because they were born a different skin color.

So kneeling at the anthem causes zero impact on your life, it doesn’t delay the game or anthem for a second, and you place it akin to people protesting at starbucks.

Why does kneeling upset you exactly?

The words of someone who simply doesn’t know better.

Where have I said or implied that it does?

Does skyzyks upset-ness cause an impact on your life?

Sounds like you might know someone intimately with this belief…

Can’t say I’ve ever claim to know much.

We must live in two entirely different America’s.

Was that referring to me cause I don’t live in the US…

No, pfury.

Apologize if I misinterpreted.

We must. People that sincerely believe they’re better due to skin color exist. You don’t have to believe they exist for it to be true. On top of that, I have no real skin in the game on whether or not you believe it. Do as you wish.

Nope. That’s why I don’t genuinely care if these people remain upset.

Many of them, yes.

No one is denying they exist, but do you sincerely believe/know that there are that many of them?

Sure do.

Edit: to be fair, guess it depends on your definition of “many”

I was thinking of one in particular.

Ben said, “I find it hard to believe that there are that many people who sincerely believe that they are better simply because they were born a different skin color.”

Not that they don’t exist at all. Of course, they exist. We have Raj as proof. He’s a fringe lunatic, though.

I would consider 1 out of 10 to be “many”. I sincerely hope that’s not the case.

This thread is the most attention I’ve given to the NFL this year. I was really getting into football for the first time two seasons ago, but I’m finding other stuff to do with my Sundays now.

I predict the ratings will continue to decline, just like everything else that gets politicized. Nobody watches football to hear what football players think about politics.
