well the bread is in the oven and my ghetto loaf pans are working wonderfully
Gotcha … what kind of bread are you making?
check food porn thread
It’s bread, but with miso instead of salt. The miso flavour didn’t really come through, but there was a nice nutty, sour-ish taste. Very good. Recipe will be posted on blog tomorrow or friday
When I was a kid I had a Mattel Hot Wheels Car collection. Anyone remember them?
As an adult, I made a real one.
I took a 2002 Pontiac GradPrix grocery getter and turned it into 12 second 1/4 mile show car.
I still have the car today. Supercharged, Intercooled with a 150 shot of Nitrous oxide.

370 HP 450 torque from a V6.
I love the ingenuity of the strut tower braces.
Wow @Dr_J2 you noticed the aftermarket strut brace? Nice. Shocks and sway bars were also upgraded since I live in the Colorado mtns and we have lots of twisty’s.
Nothing too mind blowing but I made a damn fine cayenne pepper sauce (about a pint) yesterday
The garlic and cayenne came from the garden
This is the most interesting thing I’ve made in a while. I began with the intention of doing the entire thing single-handedly, but I asked a (younger) buddy to come help with the tin after installing the first sheet. The climbing up and down was going to take forever. It manages to keep the rain and south Mississippi sun off my camper.
My first attempt at one of these ( cement wood burning stove). Just cracked it out of the mold so still rough. But I am happy with the way it turned out.
Will update after it cures and has ![]()

This is a class assignment. We take data and make pretty graphs in R
First time I’ve done something like this without a friend practically giving me the code line by line.
I am finally getting the hang of this R thing
Another nerd post
It’s a model for when ppl will engage in a behaviour
Reasoning:
- Competence enables behaviour, intention drives it.
- Competence is a function of ability to learn, baseline competence and time. Diminishing growth with respect to time and baseline ability (if you’re already good, not much room to improve)
- Intention is utility to yourself and others from engaging in a behaviour. Others utility is discounted, but those with higher warmth discount it less, utilities can be negative
- Engaging in behaviours comes at a personal cost (effort), but higher competence = less effort required = less cost
- Actions have a social consequence, M, how much that matters depends on the individuals social sensitivity. For example, my s is probably quite negative
- Warmth primacy is satisfied by default
Assumptions
- a, b, and w are normally distributed
I still have to work out how I’d use/solve this but it’s getting there!
I was going to ask. How would you get a usable output from this.
Well, I spent a bit of time this morning and turned it into a logistic regression
Still not quite usable, but fun
Does this not assume people behave in a somewhat rational way?
yep!
I tell you what, when you meet that person, you’ll be able to read them like a book.
Well… the assumptions I make are quite benign compared to the ones my friend makes/will make
I’m going to regret asking this but what assumptions is your friend making?
The models he uses don’t really consider things like social sensitivity/pressure
Are they applied on a macro level or a micro level? How would you quantify something like social pressure?
