Things You’ve Always Wondered About

How do those CrossFit Games girls deal with health insurance. They are obviously very fit… but…

  1. Many of them have high BMIs
  2. Most of them have don’t have great waist to hip ratios
  3. Most of them probably don’t have great bloodwork due to chronic stress of training

Just random thoughts… no creep intended

I’m wondering how he manages to get nearly 7l of fluids in and how much it costs to keep his supply stocked.

I am 100% creep intended when it comes to the crossfit women.

Need to stay hydrated from the 2 pizzas I had for dinner…
Did I hear someone say dirty bulk??? I’d love to…

I’m jealous. I have to cut out simple carbohydrates and cheese is my poison . Way to stay sane during lockdown though!

Haha, I’m treating this like a holiday. Australia has been blessed to have escaped the virus with only a relatively small number of cases and I think only 60 deaths.
I’ve pretty much eaten clean and trained hard over the last 3 years, so I’m enjoying the deload and refeed.
Looking forward to life going back to normal though.

Anyone with a lot of muscle has a high BMI

I’m not sure what the correlation between this and health insurance is. The heart disease risk factor? Again, someone with developed obliques - which crossfitters have in spades - would fall outside regular statistics for that, I would think.

Some of them probably don’t have great bloodwork due to taking buttloads of steroids.

yeah, a lot of the hosts of the lifting podcasts I listen to have complained about this. Apparently the companies don’t give a fuck

More “progressive” companies use waist to hip as a proxy instead of BMI. Funny story, mine isn’t great either (.8)

If that were true, I’d be a lot less jealous

Me too. I’m using the time in lockdown to improve and I gotta say I love it. I’m just getting back into it, I’ve been getting back into it since the quarantine started. Before lockdown I was too busy to lift consistently. With a lot of events being virtual and/or cancelled at least into the fall in NYC, I have more time than ever to get stronger and make more money. I try to use that time as wisely as possible.

Lol even if the virus cases go down can’t this mess just happen again because the virus is more contagious than the flu. I’m starting to think it’s inevitable and if you die, you die. Just something else in the world that can kill you. Is it possible to develop immunity?

(take everything with a grain of salt)

It could. However, scientists are constantly trying to develop a vaccine/effective drugs. Plus the testing/response would hopefully be less delayed in a 2nd wave

I believe the current consensus is yes, abiet for a short time
Sidenote: viruses generally mutate to be less deadly over time

This… tends to be true lol

I did some searching related to Uber the last few days (work thing). Of course, I now have porn recommendations that are “real” Uber encounters themed.

Why is it my Uber person is always male, in sweatpants and will barely talk to me while the porn ones are young attractive females, who go to work to drive around but get their hair and make-up done, wear skimpy skin tight clothes which they throw off as soon as the “lucky guy” glances their way?

My friendliest drivers were in Philly, my weirdest/potentially promiscuous ones were in Vegas.

Sounds about right.

That’s only because you weren’t dressed as Santa Claus and/or they didn’t have batteries handy

How do they make that spaghetti with the hole down the centre? I know the answer is just a Google away but I don’t want to ruin the mystique

This question has raised again after I bought it for my kids who think is great fun. I haven’t even seen the stuff in 30 years lol

A little extrusion machine made specially for pasta.

along these lines - I like making my own pasta, it’s super easy and satisfying. Except I do not have this machine to make tube pasta - specifically rigatoni.

I make a killer bolognese which rigatoni goes perfect with - the boxed stuff is just fine, but I really want to make it with the fresh, homemade stuff.
