I hate iphones. It’s not so much that I hate iphones, but it seems like every fucker that has one of those things is a hipster d-bag. I rock the same cell phone I got in 2006. It works just fine. I can store my family and friend’s phone numbers so I don’t have to remember them, it has voicemail, it rings when people call me, etc. It does everything a phone is supposed to. Since when did a fucking phone need to tell me what song is currently playing in the toy section at Target? Why do you need that?
What is a hipster?
Apparently some form of human species that irritates others.
Odd how some folks get their panties in a bunch over another person’s stylistic choices, yet these same folk seem unaffected by the real problems in the world.
Odd how some folks get their panties in a bunch because someone bitches about things they hate in a thread called “things you hate that everyone loves”.
So are you an iphone owner, hipster, or both?

Derek asked what a hipster was. I answered.
No, I have an old flip phone which I hardly ever use.

They are basically beatniks pretending that their views are original, not borrowed from another pseudo-intellectual subculture from over half a century ago, and instead of playing bongos they carry around the latest Apple products

Oh so basically young kids who are searching for an identity like most 20 year olds and they seek attention from the masses by being “different”. So older guys like us bang our chest and scream at them giving them the attention they are trying to get.

Pretty much. I have to deal with them a lot more then most being a professor, so I get more annoyed by them then most, but I mostly ignore them as long as they are not being disruptive. Hipsters generally fail my classes anyway and go study liberal arts.

I knew what you do so I can understand you getting annoyed, but hell in 10 years it will be something else, Goth coming back or Grunge.
I find it amusing cause I dont have to deal with it, the kids I hire to work for me have to wear scrubs so I do not have to deal with “social” issues as much.

Oh, please let grunge come back! I would much prefer a new grunge movement or a resurgence of the rock and roll subculture into mainstream society to what has been going on for the last 15-20 years.

Contrarily, I hate hip-hop…I tried to like it, but I am a musician, not a great one by any stretch, but I get what it takes and I hate music made by computers. I don’t hate the use of computers per se, but I hate the fuck out of music devoid of actual musicians. There’s no soul, no spirit, no expression except for the MC. If he’s not spectacular, it’s just shit, to me. I know it’s very popular and all that, but I like my music with musicians in it.
Like when ICE-T did his Body Count experiment. I loved that, real musicians doing real shit. Hey, that actually gives me an idea for a new thread…

What are you trying to say? That you want music that isn’t a sampling and rehash of the same old shit all the time??
I love the arts, but the 21rst century has been the century or retreads, so far. It seems no artists have any original ideas. All the fucking movies are super heroes rehashed in a million ways, remakes of TV shows, or tired old horror flicks. At $10.50 per movie, I have way better things to do with my time.
Same with music, retreading the same shit over and over…Yeah, technically if you change a note or two it’s a different song, but damn…
