I think @T3hPwnisher is extremely well placed to answer this.
Yup. Iāve been full 4 times in my life, and the fact I know the exact number is indicative of just how MUCH you gotta eat to get there, haha. But man, once youāre there, thereās no more food going in.
The ātrickā is getting in as much food in those first 20 minutes as possible, before your brain has a chance to register what the hell is going on.
Fixed that for you.
lol I think she was hoping for some advice on how to stop eating when you do t feel full. ![]()
Ah; that wasnāt the part you quoted.
I just stop when I am not hungry, rather than trying to achieve full, for the reasons outlined above. It takes a LOT of food to feel full. Not hungry happens much sooner.
Exactly this!
Thatās a little more helpful. Iād like that at ānot hungryā to last more than 20 minutes. A few hours of not thinking about food sounds quiet and awesome.
I have an approach for that, but itās not terribly well received, haha.
I get it, Iām not completely against carnivore, I absolutely love eat meat. But for a female getting into an endurance sport, and being the one that prepares food for the family, low carb isnāt a good fit.
I am working on making my food less palateable/more bland. Still absolutely look forward to every meal like itās Christmas morning. Plain potatoes, frozen veg and meatballs for lunch today? Come on noonā¦
Well, even outside of carnivore, my answer would be to eat more if hunger is happening. Rather than it being veggies, though, Iād opt for protein. Egg whites, in particular, are an effective tool.
Itās my whole āwe donāt hunger for volumeā thought process. The idea of just filling the stomach up with filler in order to satiate hunger tends to have the interesting effect of making me feel physically full while still also feeling hunger: the worst of both worlds. I believe the body is hungry because it wants nutrients, rather than just stuff in itās stomach.
Along with that, my most recent gaining phase also demonstrated to me that, eventually, when I spend enough time feasting, I āget overā the idea of feasting. For 14 weeks, at the end of the day, Iād sit down and eat like I was a death row inmate at my last meal. And as the weeks went on, the food intake went up. It culminated with me going on a cruiseā¦during which time, I was āoverā food. Whereas on previous cruises, I absolutely ate like an a-hole, at this point, Iād been feasting for so long that the novelty had worn off. Itās typically long periods of denial that make feasting alluring. If the denial isnāt there, neither is the allure.
One can combine the two ideas in turn: just absolutely gorge on protein until the novelty of gorging loses appeal. In protein overfeeding studies, with even a 1000 calorie surplus from protein, folks just plain donāt gain fat. Typically, NEAT tends to increase in response to the protein. Along with that, unlike carbs, which tend to increase insulin, which results in a corresponding blood sugar increase, which, in turn, results in a drop that creates the whole āhunger roller coasterā thing, protein raises insulin with a corresponding raise in glucagon, which prevents the blood sugar raise. āCarbs beget carbsā is a thing, whereas protein (and fats) donāt tend to do the same.
Long rambling bloviation there, but I get where youāre coming from. I spent 37 years ALWAYS hungry. I would eat something every 30 minutes, and count down the 29 minutes between the last thing and the next thing. It sucks.
Bulking is completely unnecessaryā¦
Ackchually⦠fat adapted athletes do VERY well. Listen to some Tim Noakes videos. Plenty of long-term studies showing this.
I get this so much. I have been walking around with a bloated, growling stomach. Itās such a weird, comfortable feeling.
I have been trying to do this with veggies, but again, see above. Iām still getting 1gram/lb of bodyweight. I have been actively trying to add more carbs and fats in, which is slightly reducing protein. From about 150+ grams to 120+. Perhaps just increasing carbs and fats anyway is the next experiment.
Yeah, I fell for this trap, and I feel like it caused me a LOT of damage.
Iām still getting 1gram/lb of bodyweight.
I am so stupidly above that, haha. Just in Metabolic Drive alone I take in about 225g at a bodyweight of 185, and then I have a solid food meal as well.
I genuinely feel that the body doesnāt hunger for no reason. In my case, it was tired of all the veggies and just wanted meat. Once I finally met the appetite, the hunger went away.
Well, Iām really really pissed off about this plane crash.
I hate that flying is so looked at as not a big deal.
I hate all this transportation crap.
Stay local, work local, F growing corporate!!!
As for all this diet talk, Iām with Boogz at 18 minutes here.
F these carnivore restriction nuts, they also piss me off, they clueless, srs-
Amen
Oh man, I bet you have some good gaining stories from back in the day. Iāll always find that SO much more fascinating than the current neutered approach of ā300 calorie surplus of carbsā
SAME. Itās just not enough food. I do let myself eat pretty much as much lean protein as I want at meals, but it will absolutely tip the scales back to gaining if I go too crazy.
@T3hPwnisher I was experimenting this morning with steel cut oats with chocolate MD in it, a la your pudding. It wasnāt something I could just eat up until I added some vanilla greek yogurt in. Then it was okay. Blueberries, yogurt, MD, and the oatmeal was pretty nice. With walnuts even better. But at some point weāre looking at a 400 kcal bowl of not-that-good.
The higher base muscularity of men just makes being lean so much easier. Iām almost 5ā7", but as Iām Olive Oyl rather than Popeye, anything more than what feels like a very strict diet starts me gaining at my current activity level.
I would eliminate the oats and go greek yogurt only if I were to add to it, but I just use hot water and a teaspoon of beef gelatin to give it a thicker texture. It ends up being about 230 calories and almost pure protein
My goal was to find something super tasty for a treat - oatmeal is not something Iāve ever eaten before for breakfast, so I was just playing with it to see what I could get. I was initially looking for something cookie-like when I added the MD.
Cookie-like muck. Yup, totally winning this so-called cut!
Ah, I default to Layne Norton on that one, haha. My bias shines though. I am very much opposed to oates.
