CA has been fucked up for a long time…
Doesn’t seem to be working as it is only getting worse and worse while simultaneously outsourcing that stupid fuckery to places like Colorado, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, FL, even TN is seeing quite a few. Running a business in CA is a nightmare compared to most anywhere else.

Oh i have no issue with academics.
In this case my oldest has a bad habit of overthinking and over analyzing shit.
Its to the point the phd who heads the department and does highlander games . Told my oldest to " stop over thinking the shit and just lift"

Intoxication of knowledge can be irritating.
That said, I have an even bigger issue with people who insist being right, though entirely wrong. One of my friends once told me and a group of friends in detail how my job works. It was like I even wasn’t there. Needless to say, he was wrong - but from a public point of view he made a reasonable attempt. And no, I didn’t correct him. Just continued my popcorn.

I work with a fairly recent college grad. Intoxicated with knowledge describes him well. At times he is almost unbearable.

They have also started to move abroad.
Not only are they driving housing costs way up, people in those countries now wish that the old gun-toting stereotypical caricatures of Americans were true after meeting a few Californians.
