The only position I’m not crazy about is overhead. Thats just guaranteed to catch the hot spatter somewhere you thought was covered. My upper chest looks like I’ve been attacked with an icepick with the pock marks that have accumulated over the years.

Greatest hit- some crazy bastard was practicing his overhead at big fabrication place I worked at. He comes up to me and asks for help, then shows me his eyelid.
It was melted shut by a piece of hot slag from flux core that somehow made its way into his hood!
I walked him to medical and made sure he didn’t get hit by anything being craned on the way.

When people would come up to me after my wife passed. Would come up to me and say " i know what your feeling, ive been divorced before."
Of course i would nod my head and be polite and thank them for their condolences.
I had to fight the urge to ask if they were fucking stupid.

The kicker is. I had been divorced before.
This was me watching my wife of 18 years in the hospital for a month and a half as she suffered fighting stage 4.
When shit went sideways the last week.,
having to be the one to make the call to pull the plug.
Certain individuals should have just left it at sorry for your loss.

Letting someone know that you know how they feel is basically never a solid approach to expressing condolences. I’m pretty sure these people want to make it about themselves, even if they have convinced themselves that they are trying to help. The fact that they are comparing divorce to death makes it worse, but even if it was comparing death to death it would be unhelpful to bring it up.

Had to watch a pregnant fiance pass in an awful way when I was 24.
