Things That Piss You Off

I don’t use TikTok but I’ve spent some time doomscrolling on YouTube shorts. They’re usually different content, but similar styles. I’m pretty positive that doing that once or twice a week has affected my attention span. I can’t imagine what it’s doing to kids who spend hours every day doing it, throughout all of their formative years.

I’ve seen some data, but that was before covid and it was presented in a training during a powerpoint, so who knows how old it was then. Anyway, things are evolving so rapidly I’m sure the info, which had to do with differences in social functioning, is already out of date.

It’s terrifying. It’s terrifying that new moms are looking at their phones while nursing babies, creating a disruption in “eye gaze” a thing noted by feeding mothers across cultures and without which - as due to severe retardation or autism - there is failure to thrive.

I love my tech. I’ve been on social media since the beginning of it. But I would hand it over in a heartbeat if I could make it go away for kids.

Nah, it can stay.

My phone autocorrected “clean and jerk,” to “circle jerk,” so now I have some explaining to do about my Thanksgiving plans.

Edit - it was on a family text thread.

My question is how many times do have to you use “circle jerk” a week before the computer thinks it’s a common part of your vernacular

I dunno, like . . . thirteen?

My search history is probably used by the FBI for training purposes at this point anyways.

I got a bit hyper focused on learning Russian at one point over the summer and spent more time looking at Russian stuff than English stuff (unless the English stuff was to translate the Russian stuff)

Google started making me verify that I wasn’t a bot after a few days of this

There is something really annoying about algorithms like that.

I did a few searches for motorcycles, and since I searched for wedding rings 8 years ago, I started seeing ads for divorce lawyers popping up everywhere.

Oh man! You should see what I get.

I carry a smart phone most of the time now, like most people. So when I take it with me into my therapists office, I get bombarded with stuff for mental health, rehab, suicide prevention, everything.

Its crazy. Its not just me, I swear!

CVS pharmacy - doctor changed the dose on one of my meds. CVS says they won’t fill it because it was recently filled. Try to call CvS and have to work through 5 minutes of automated BS only to be sent to a voicemail where they will “get back to me”.

What the Fuck?

Having to deal with USPS in any fashion. Nearly impossible to speak to an actual person unless I drive to the post office and speak to someone only to be told to come back later when someone who can help me is around

Ticks. They’re becoming an almost year round problem.

A few times when that happened to me I just had to stop by and talk to the pharmacist.

They get it. Their systems don’t though.

I wouldn’t choose CVS pharmacy except I am locked in by my insurance plan. Every one of them around here is garbage.

Yeah, you don’t want any confusion or delays when it comes to meds that are crucial to your health.

I’ve run into a little here & there. I use a Rite Aid that is very near by, and the people there are pretty nice and willing to look into any confusion or misunderstandings.

Magic Kingdom kinda sucks and a standard ticket, without Genie+ / Lightning Lane, is basically worthless.

You’re in my neck of the woods then. It’s really only worth it if you get annual passes if you live in florida. Otherwise fighting the crowds is horrible.

Nice, didn’t realize you are in Florida. We heard this time of year isn’t as busy, but Magic Kingdom was packed today. Luckily we did the Mickey Christmas party yesterday so we basically hit everything then. Today was just ridiculous. Some of the rides were 2-hour waits. I’m hoping the other Disney parks aren’t as bad, but we’ll do genie+ going forward.

We hit Universal up on Friday/Saturday and it was fantastic.

It’s been that way since Covid. Just nuts. Even the “slow” times of the year are crowded.

My wife and I are debating universal vs Disney passes next year. Only reason I am considering Disney is because my daughters are at the right age for it.
