Things That Piss You Off

Everything has to be done through a motherfucking app!!!

I am pretty sure I developed an adult onset shellfish allergy…

Had tuna Poke with krab salad for lunch yesterday - got full face flushed and hives down onto my chest within an hour (benadryl fixed it).

This really sucks because:
a) I am going to Japan in less than two weeks and now have to be careful with sushi (Damn it)
b) I am going on an alaskan cruise at the end of august and had a special crab dinner feast excursion already set up (Double Damn It)
c) I can’t get in to an allergist to confirm until September (Florida healthcare blows)

I’ve never had an issue with any of the foods in my meal until yesterday…

Is it possible that it was contaminated with something else? Algae, etc.?

Maybe, I had seaweed salad with it (again haven’t had issues with that before). I’ve been reading/seeing that adult onset allergies are actually sort of common.

I had been keeping fish for about 3 years and had some algae I was dealing with - never had a problem sticking my hand in the tank or anything.

I only wish I could get in sooner to get allergy tested so I know for sure what is actually going on.

That sucks. We have the best crabs in the world here and I’d lose it if I developed an allergy.

Japan has great cuisine aside from sushi (it is amazing, though… Sorry…)

If it was a mild reaction maybe test it again before you go?

I have thought about this. I have some frozen shrimp at home, maybe just thaw one out and touch it to my arm or something.

I find it weird because I don’t really have allergies to anything.

c19 vaxx death 100%. https://needtoknow.news/2023/07/jo-linder-bodybuilder-who-took-four-covid-vaccines-dies-from-aneurysm-at-age-30/

Definitely not possibly related to any possible exogenous substances he used which are known to cause heart, blood pressure and other blood related issues….

Occam’s razor applies.

Also, this is where you get your news?

This is not PWI thread…don’t need that crap in this one.

I’m not exactly the biggest fan of the covid vaccine, but Jo was apparently having a lot of health complications from when he went off steroids to the point he tried to go on TRT to fix them and it didn’t work.

Not everything is related to COVID or the vaccine…

I didn’t ā€œfollowā€ him but liked what I saw of him. He was very much an influencer but seemed like a nice, goofy guy.

Thirsty for that confirmation bias hit, huh?

Couldn’t have been gallons of other drugs.

Was definitely a few cc of a vaccine.

:man_facepalming: fuck.

Yeah. I lost a friend a while back. Not to covid, but to his salivating giddiness when I told him I had to go back in for another stent/blockage a while back.

He couldn’t resist the urge to gloat and say ā€œYou got the shot! Didn’t you!ā€

As he savored his own ill concieved words, I explained to him the timeline problem with his theory but he was too drunk with confirmation bias to listen.

So there ended a 20 year friendship, with him smiling at the possibility of me dying and Him Being Right!

Fools gold. Thats all that shit is.

Using ā€œit’s part of the cultureā€ to justify irrational/bad behaviour
Case in point

  • 10 straight min of firecrackers in the yard, less than 3m from the dining space where there were multiple babies. You couldn’t see a metre in front of you bc of the smoke
  • pressuring my little brother to drink and smoke (I was at least able to stop this)
  • burning paper in front of graves and expecting us to stand in front of the fire to feed in paper

It sounds like histamine fish poisoning, which should be considered before calling it an allergy. Especially since you’ve not experienced this before. Or - are you suffering from other allergies? HFP is highly associated with tuna. Appearantly the histamine develops when the fish is stored in room temperature for too long - which may occur anytime from catch til mealtime.

That said, there are several triggers for increased histamine in daily life (excercise, stress, heat/cold etc) which may make an individual more prone/sensitive to yet another trigger (histamine rich tuna for example).

I recommend you discuss with your GP for an initial assessment, considering the allergy specialist is not available in neartime. Here (in Sweden) the GP may start an allergy investigation. Not sure how it works in FL though.

you can try a few cc of fentayl see how that goes

I have, back when it was called china white. But your analogy is not analogous.

And your conclusion, or the one you borrowed, is also faulty.

Hmm. Interesting. I will read the link. Thanks.
The Tuna did taste ā€œfishierā€ than normal if that makes any sense (didn’t feel like it was room temp as it’s normally served cold).

I don’t have any other known allergies.

Edit: read the link. This sounds like exactly what happened. Will try some shellfish (cooked properly) to confirm no allergy because I have never had any issues in the past.

That’s great! You’re presumably in the clear for further ingestion! Please let me know how it turns out.

A pragmatic perspective: One allergic reaction in adults (that is, with no life threatening anaphylaxic symtoms) without previous allergic experiences in life - may indicate less serious cause. If it happens twice, or other allergies are present - I would me more cautious. Also, an individual perspective needs to be applied. That said, allergies are an ocean and have provided me as a generalist clinician (GP) with the most challenging questions. Keep in mind an allergy specialist may have objections to my statement above, as they tend to be very professionally precise.

Dads that let their ~13 year old daughters wear fishnets and shorts that show the bottom side of their ass.

Its like they’re trying to raise the town bicycle. Shit fuckin irritates me.
