Things That Piss You Off

I got hit by this 1.5 years ago. My homeowners insurance went up by 50%

Florida is now 4x the national average

Yikes, scared to see what happens when I have to renew next year.

Thinking about getting an RV and moving to a campground somewhere,

What do you mean by commercially viable? If it destroys encryption, it would be worth it even if it cost billions of dollars to build 1 computer. Because if you can destroy all encryption, we aren’t talking about Nigerian hackers. Nation states will be willing to throw a lot of money at it.

They already are throwing money at it, but to try and steal each other’s national secrets (no different then current espionage) and unfortunately China is in the lead.

Let’s hope they don’t want to use it to kill a bunch of citizens.

I want to support local teenagers being entrepreneurs, so I keep an eye on nexdoor to support the community. Had a free estimate from a highschooler to spread a pile of mulch around the yard. Quoted me $800.

Hard no. Ill just count it as NEPA.

I was thinking $300 would be a deal breaker.

Because he needed that amount to buy something.

Good insight.

Nuclear response was approved for this, so that would be very dumb of them.

True - but we have come very too close to mutually assured destruction before.

All it takes is one asshole who is more ambitious & narcissistic than the previous one to fuck over the whole planet.

Mulching is one of the ball bustingest things, but looks so nice when done.

Well you know, if you get a boyfriend you can be his girlfriend. And thats really something! Especially if he’s talented or important! Then you’ll really be somebody!

(Of course I’m being facetious. Your awesome is free standing and self created.)

Not remembering where things are.

In life my keys and wallet are constantly being looked for, better in the winter because they stay in one of my jackets.

At work we are constantly deploying new things and haven’t modernized our telemetry to a degree where I have easy insight as to where things are currently living except somewhere in my brain, from there only like 12341 configuration variables exist to manage. I need to give ChatGPT access to our repos so it can tell me what I need to remember.

Usually, when something just needs to be made commercially viable, that means that the technology works but is just super expensive. Like a flying car. Given enough money, I could make a flying car. But it isn’t commercially viable.

If world powers are spending unfathomable amounts of money on quantum computing and it still isn’t cracking encryption, that isn’t a commercial viability problem. That means we flat out don’t know how to make the technology work. Maybe someone will figure it out eventually. But we’re not at the commercial viability stage.

Not sure if anyone follows Jo, but he passed away over the weekend. It was apparently an aneurysm.
