I am not to far from there - Melbourne. I told my wife this won’t be much and she bought into the way to early hype - “It’s not what meterologists are saying” - turns out I have been right so far and it’s pushing west/northwest.
Getting some sandbags just because if we get a lot of rain it backs up into my patio so just blocking that door to prevent water coming up to the house door.

There used to be some Huge and pretty serious fights between my school district and the one neighboring one. Bats, chains, brass knuckles, etc. People getting busted up pretty badly!
That all calmed down a lot by the time I got to high school, but since I switched to another I got tested a good bit as the new guy.
My shop teachers used to place bets. It was a huge campus high school with multiple buildings, and everybody knew that you go to the shop building to square up.
They were different times.

I’ll never forget how severe the lightning was when we drove back to our house after Florence came through.
We heard there were looters in the area so we came home before the evacuation was lifted… the lightning was literally a few strikes per second. Made us second guess our decision a bit driving into that lol.

My shop teacher did the beating haha. It was a baptist school and parents fully supported this type of punishment.
We were little assholes and probably deserved it to be fair to him. He had a “no making weapons” rule in shop. We would make lots of weapons. I remember the guy next to me making a sword, the shop teacher walks by, swipes it from him, and gave him a pretty good hit to the back of the knees with it.
Another prolific trouble maker, got forcibly put into the corner by the shop teacher. Just kinda bashed his head into it.

Not me in this case. I did get in plenty of trouble. I made it through the strict Baptist school though. I may have gotten suspended once, but that was it. I did get kicked out of public elementary school though, which started my religious school career.
I am on the east coast and it looks like the most dangerous thing over here will be the potential for flooding.
We had one shop teacher whose nick name was Mr. Battery (close to his real name).
So a kid violated his No Fucking Around rule, which was rule #1 and Only.
He gave the kid a little snap across the back of the neck with a dowel rod.
Kid turns and steps up to him.
Mr. B smacked him open hand across each side of his head so fast and hard the dude just straight dropped to the floor.
Mr. B. was a brick layer through the summer and had hands much like the bricks he laid.

A lot of people do both college and the military. Even people that went to good ones. Thats likely why you’re getting both types of ads.

What’s funny is when you are in the military, and you get those same recruitment ads from other branches.
Buddy of mine responded once. Said to the Air Force recruiter “if you can get me off this ship, I’ll sign whatever paper you got” lol. They didn’t think it was as funny
I was waaay pre-internet, so they just came to my school and got us out of class to take the asvab. 
It worked though!
