Things That Piss You Off

I go to a strongman/powerlifting gym. We still have theme nights :stuck_out_tongue:

The gym raises about $1500 bucks each time they do it, last one was for a mental health charity. A couple of people who train there were at the Arnold’s Amateurs last time it was on, so it does okay for a gym that isn’t serious enough.

The rack pulls don’t piss me off.

It’s the obnoxious behaviour (excessive grunting, film crew)
There are other guys who also do rack pulls and they make less than half the noise and are considerably more respectful to the equipment

I get the fundraising idea, but I don’t think my club is fundraising. I would do it to raise a bit of money.

Ah okay. I only care about the equipment

The guys doing rack pulls are significantly stronger and more experienced than me.

It’s not my place to be criticizing their exercise selection or technique.
I do feel, however, that I have at least a baseline understanding of gym ettiquitte to know that the rack pull guy and his crew are crossing a line

I actually had one of these douchebags get me in trouble a few times at my last gym. The owner blamed me for ruining the bars because I deadlifted and didn’t set the weights down whisper-quiet. Never mind the dude whose rack pull was 70% of my deadlift working weights slamming the bar on the safeties 3-4 times a week…

Also, my neighborhood pisses me off. The 10 closest houses to me are full of great people that I consider some of my closer friends. But the other part of the neighborhood was sold in a rush by the developer. 5/1 adjustable rate mortgages without down payments meant you could build a house cheaper than renting a trailer. Aaaaaaaand it shows, because the whole fucking trailer park moved here. We have a mini war going on up the hill because there’s a couple families of inbreds up there that can’t accept the fact they have black neighbors. There’s a community Facebook page that’s just a cesspool of awful as well. Part of me wants to stay here for awhile because our immediate neighbors are so great, but I also wanna GTFO before the people up the hill ruin it.

I promise you’ll be much happier if you ignore the facebook page. If it’s for keeping touch with the nice neighbours just set up a group chat or something.

Ordered a present for my kids birthday next month. Paid a small fortune for shipping. I get a text this morning saying my delivery is at the depot waiting to be picked up.

I call the delivery company and suggested for the shipping I paid that it should come to me. They said they came but no one was home.

Nothing left behind to say anyome was here. My doorbell detects motion, notifies you and records when it does, also records if someone presses the door bell. Nothing.

We have CCTV as well. I tell the company all this and noted that we are hidden from the street and protected from weather and I requested that the delivery be left at my door if no one is home. But apparently this is my fault and I gotta go to them.

Pricks. Talking to brick walls who won’t hear what you are saying pisses me off

This is just unacceptable

I totally agree. The commercial gym is not comparable to a hardcore gym. My gym doesn’t even have locker rooms, but they have much better equipment than the lifetime I was going to. If the no amenities hardcore gym is good enough for Ronnie Coleman, it is good enough for me.

I think the rack pull is an almost obsolete lift, when one could do block pulls, which feel more like a deadlift (just a bit higher). The load curve for a block pull looks like a deadlift, it doesn’t for a rack pull.

This annoys me about commercial gyms. 90%of my training only requires a barbell and I don’t use amenities. I wish there was an option to just pay for what you use

My hardcore gym is $35 a month. Maybe just find one that suits your needs? If they have a chalk bowl that is a good sign.

I’ll be at my uni gym in fall, and if I’m lucky and work sufficiently hard, I’ll have free access to uni gyms for the rest of my life

Unfortunately, there aren’t hardcore gyms in China :sob:

I thought you were near Tampa?

Where do all the freaky Chinese Oly lifters go?
