I can’t speak for any one else and I realize my opinion is in the minority, but no Kap nor those jabronies bad mouthing Leos or military do not bother me. Freedom included people having differing opinions … keeps us honest … regardless of how misguided I think Kap and those jabronies may be, their opinions and protests serve a purpose and provide a different perspective I or others may not otherwise he exposed to.
What pisses me off is when people actually prevent LEOs from performing their duty to serve and protect (politicians or otherwise). Hanoi Jane gets under my skin too … I think she’s a giant sack of dog shit
A good amount of personnel, active or otherwise, feel the same way.
Definitely. What small_nutz457 says on reddit means nothing. When a successful “role model” repeatedly says dumb shit it’s “worse” imo because he/she is reaching a lot more people with their ignorance.
Like @marine77, I’m a police officer and I’ve seen society change since Ferguson. Athletes have a lot of influence and his nonsense has had an immediate impact. People are claiming to be afraid of police by our mere presence. They also have been convinced that they can fight and flee if they disagree with us.
News flash, when shit heads get caught doing what they do, they don’t own it. They lie, yell, fight, and flee. This anti cop movement has made the job harder and the criminals bolder.
Yep. It’s bizarre and pathetic. You’re very unlikely to be stopped by a policeman never mind harmed by one.
I love how so many window lickers think police are not too bright or intelligent (some aren’t to be sure) then encourage people to disobey lawful commands, resist arrest, harass, provoke, taunt, etc…
These out of touch celebrities, politicians, “activists”…are doing far more harm than good. It’s sad to see these ignorant sacks of shit encourage the kind of behaviour that leads to more interactions with us. Pure genius.
Yeah… I don’t really see how the NFL is screwing Kap. How many other players, 3 years out of the league, do you see the NFL setting up a private workout for? In additional the league will be making the video and interviews available to all 32 teams and keeping the public and media away. I’m guessing - though admittedly I have no idea - that this workout was part of the settlement back in February between Kap and the league.
The thing about Kap is that he’d be a decent back-up QB at best. If your starter goes down, he might step in an win you a few games against teams with poor records but at what cost? How many more games are you going to win with Kap on the bench as opposed to Matt Schaub or Josh McCown on the bench? Or Hoyer or Daniel?
Hoyer is making maybe $3MM, Daniel is making $4MM…if my starter goes down (if!) and I have to put in my second string QB for 4 games, how many more games will Kap win me than Chase Daniel? And what will it cost me to keep Kap on my payroll? Earlier this year, it was reported that Kap was asking for $20MM. Why the fuck would I pay him $20MM when I could pay Josh McCown $2MM and Kap might win me 2 more games on a full season. How do I benefit if I have to pay $18MM to go 6-10 rather than 4-12?
My finance prof used to joke that the difference between a Republican and a Democrat was one Economics course. I would amend that to say 1 Economics course and Stats 101.
I was working at a facility less than 3 miles from where this took place. All the rioting was kicked off by a video someone posted immediately after the incident that was full of lies about what happened(lies by evidence in the grand jury proceedings). Once that happened everyone latched on to what this guy said instead of evidence. I will say that after the first couple of nights there was more media covering the event than actual people “protesting”.
It’s the same way with the celebrities and athletes. People become echo chambers for these “influencers” talking points without examining evidence before “taking action”.
Like most law abiding citizens, I took the officer’s side when that happened. But I heard so much backlash from internet experts that I decided to read the grand jury testimony myself.
The guy that was with Michael Brown testified that the officer grabbed him by his shirt and lifted him off the ground. The officer was seated in his patrol car and reached through the window to do this. I don’t know a single human being that could lift another human of that size with one arm from a seated position. Even if one could, I don’t think the shirt would hold up. I knew that was a blatant lie and stopped reading right there.
I’ve got little bits of shrapnel scattered among the bottom cervical vertebrae and the upper thoracic. One is currently inflaming my ulner (?) nerve and giving me pain and three fingers of my left hand completely fucking numb (or pins and needles, which is worse).
Had it before; it will eventually go away. Benching or pressing of any kind makes it way worse.
PISSES ME OFF. I feel like my body is betraying me.
On the bright side, it’s not ferro magnetic metal (so I can do MRIs and they can tell me what is going on) and I know how to hit chest without inflaming it.
Also, how is she going to do it? The military already actively recruits my people, but it’s a tough, tough job so they’re continually short-staffed. One of the reasons the VA hospitals are so often shitholes is because people who can work in pleasanter places with less intense populations do, and those are the people who were at the tops of their classes in medical and graduate school.
Child protective services, jails, and long term care facilities are the same. It’s soul-crushing work.
People dehumanize things they’ve been told to going back to before writing … its not just those in LE … on the flip side LEOs have are almost worshipped by other groups.
Y’all do a polarizing service and unfortunately when one asshole in uniform does something terrible or framed as terrible y’all are demonized. But then again not by everyone. I think you might be looking at this through a pessimistic lens and also subject to selection bias … ie you’re most likely to encounter a higher proportion of people who view you and your line of work negatively because well you were called to deal with shit. You don’t encounter the vast majority of people who either are neutral or are appreciative of your service all that much because, well, why would you? We’re over here minding our business with no reason for you to have to deal with us.
My point is you all also get accolades … not sure of the shit to syrup ratio but not everyone shits in you, but your line of work will naturally deal with shit more often than not by virtue of the job.
Well, St Louis is a cesspool of self loathing white liberals, leftist loons and a large criminal base most of whom are emotionally unhinged loud mouths. So it’s those we hear from by far the most.
