I greatly enjoy Chris Rock’s take that it is absurd cigarettes are legal when other drugs aren’t, considering cigarettes are so dangerous they kill people who don’t smoke them.

They say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but I’m sure I can prove them wrong.

People who say that haven’t experienced top notch sarcasm

I’ve always disagreed with anti-vaxxers but this really pisses me off:

Liam Sollis, from Unicef UK, said: "With vaccination rates in the UK falling and recently losing our measles-free status, an outbreak is now a ticking time bomb.

Part of me wonders if this is a manifestation of humanity realizing self-destruction as the only logical conclusion. It’s so counter-intuitive that it might just be the only thing that makes any sense.

we unconsciously understand our overpopulation issues

I believe it’s more a realization that any population over 0 is overpopulation.

Considering the biological imperative has resulted in 7 billion humans and counting. I don’t think that’s it.

Unless the anti-vaxer movement has been around since the dawn of humanity, I don’t feel we can use the current population as a refutation, haha.

Ah, I thought you meant there’s a built in self destruct and the anti-vaxer movement was a result of that. It could manifest in other ways… like the tide pod challenge or riding motorcycles without helmets.

Yeah, this is what I mean. We’re one of, if not the only species that actually has self-destructive tendencies. Like you wrote: there is a biological imperative to MAKE more humans, but those same humans also seem to have a drive to destroy themselves when given the chance.

Tide pods, motorocycles without helmets, texting and driving, drugs, self-harm, etc.

RIP Deadspin.

The Jim Spanfeller is a herb post was great. Also, Jim Spanfeller tweeted about the Knicks being the worst run franchise in pro sports, and the first reply is “Well said, from the James Dolan of journalism”. Seriously, this guy is a fucking mess.

And a herb.

I’ll miss that site, was one of my favorite internet communities I’ve ever been a small part of. Since I’m in fairly close proximity, I’ll just hold out hope I can run into Dave Portnoy sometime to remind him he’s a tool of the highest order.

World War 1 took out 15-19 million people.

World War 2 killed 70-85 million. That’s estimated to be 3% of the population in 1940.

Vietnam and Korea killed over 6 million and some of those estimates don’t include civilian deaths.

Perhaps we’re due for a staffing reduction…

The Soviets were very good at this

It’s funny you say that because I’m reading an old Tom Clancy book and it’s all about the Soviet Union. That’s actually what made me think of the death toll of war. The Soviets lost 20 million people in each of the World Wars.
