Last year, our local state university helped us figure out what our mission and goals should be. I got to be part of the internal stakeholders meeting which had some questions but mostly consisted of us telling this lady what sucked about our Department. Communication was a big one. At the end of the meeting, a Lieutenant working at the Training Academy spoke up and told us the Department is actually working on a lot of the problems we pointed out, thus proving our point that communication sucked. 
When everything was said and done, communication became one of the goals for our strategic agenda. In addition to this, they sent out a survey to get a feel for how we felt about the sharing of information. We have four Bureaus and none of them communicate. We have specialty units and they don’t communicate with patrol. Information goes up the chain but never comes back down. It’s like everyone just wants to keep things to themselves like it’s a big secret. Can’t risk another officer making an arrest on your special project.
The Department formed a committee to improve communication. I haven’t heard anything since…

I’ve noticed throughout my life/career/what ever, that men place tremendous value on “knowing what you’re doing” to the point that they are entirely willing to ruin any chance of success of a given undertaking- as long as they (manager, foreman, etc) and only they, “know what they’re doing” and so long as no one else does.

I wake up from a good night sleep. I slept til I couldn’t sleep anymore. I felt energized and I ate a good breakfast. I drove to school dealing with all my classes. The bell rings and I rush to the locker room. I put my flat soles shoes and shorts on. I stand by the weight room door with my friend. A whole crowd soon forms. But, as time went by the crowd kept shrinking until it was just me. Soon I give up and drive home from the biggest fucking waste of time ever. I waited an hour. I just wanted to deadlift. The weight room never opened. There was no announcement either.
This was today.
You know what’s always open? A 24/7 gym that costs $20 a month

I know people that guy. They’re often also the ones who blow about what they’ve accomplished. I’d rather have people who aren’t stars but are competent and willing to cooperate with other people to get things done. Lone wolf stars are self-limiting dicks who generate dissension.

I have never seen this cat before in my life. My entire neighborhood is overrun with feral cats, because people dump their unwanted cats here 
Now what am I supposed to do with it? Nobody wants them. The shelters are full, can’t even find a bunch of those cat eating people to eat them. Assholes!
Don’t drop them off here and expect somebody else to take care of it.

ignoring the wealth gap
inequality (shrinking middle class) is one of the worst things for long term economic growth
bonus points- segregation hurts mobility for EVERYONE, including those on the “good side” -
limits on trade to “protect domestic industries” that are dying because of automation

cracking down on economically productive, law abiding, tax- paying immigrants for “stealing jobs”
rescinding DACA? A lot of those "kids’ are in HIGHER EDUCATION
