Things That Make You Happy

It makes me happy that you remember! LOL

Yes, the boy and the dog are both mine. I actually have 4 dogs. That one is my livestock guardian dog - she’s only a puppy and she’s already over 100lbs (half Anatolian Shepherd, half Great Pyrenees). I also have two Rotties and a German Shepherd/Dobie mix that guard my home.

I am not a farmer now, but I do have an 8 acre homestead on the side of a mountain in rural Virginia and some livestock so I can be somewhat self-sufficient, but I’m still working in the data center critical power business.

I certainly hope everything is going well with you! I see some familiar folks and some new ones. Should be interesting seeing how everyone is.

It’s going well - all the better for your asking! LOL How are you?

It sounds like things are going very well - I’m really glad. Your son is gorgeous. Did you ever find a woman you could trust?

I’m doing absurdly well. Just had my 2nd anniversary (together going on 6 years) with a man who makes me laugh, who is financially responsible, and who doesn’t lie. I live in the world’s sweetest house on a couple of acres with a view, my kids are all doing well, and I’ve started a private practice, which is thriving.

Not to say there aren’t bumps, but all in all…good.

Things That Make Me Happy:

Recognizing people for who they are, whether that be bad or good.

For example, recognizing that your girlfriend has been pulling the wool over your eyes for months should make you happy, because you’ve figured out their true intentions/their character.

This.

But I’m going to assume this is due to recent experience, in which case: condolences, my dude.

Just had a side by side yogurt taste-off.

Oikos triple zero Orange, Chocolate, and non triple zero Lemon Meringue.

The Lemon Meringue makes me happy.

The triple zero stuff could use a little added sugar. And a little fat.

I got to wear this today.

Not bad for someone whose Army career includes the following rank progression. E2, E3, E2. (Totally worth it.)

Congrats … my air Force rank progression was very similar … However move was decidedly not worth it

That just means you are a better officer than your colleagues, having been enlisted (and busted). LOL

There’s a good story in there somewhere…

Crazy busy since last saw you on here.

In line with the thread. I’m six years into my current career and am in talks with being made a partner.

I’m very HAPPY to hear that you are doing so well.

As for me, I managed to land a DIME who is as smart as she is beautiful. Half Indian (dot not feather) half Portuguese - very exotic. She grew up in the islands raising goats and shooting coconuts off the tree. I got VERY lucky! I am very happy.

There is, but not suitable for a “happy” thread.

What’s particularly joyful about this is, I have been training soldiers (of every branch) is certain outdoor activities free of charge as a volunteer. The CO pointed out that I was reserves eligible and could do what I was doing and get reserve pay (and eventual retirement, which is a nice, albeit small, side benefit). So I joined. After a couple of years, he had to move, and I was suddenly the CO, which has to be a major or above, so I got promoted.

Kind of a random way to earn the rank, and a little cheap, but I’m taking it. I really enjoy what I am doing.

I got another research assistant position- with George Lowenstein!
He’s one of the first behavioral economists

…and, my first task is qualitative coding, which is literally what I spent last year in ap research doing

Not sure if I’ve asked to this … probably have … have you read the book “Thinking, Fast and Slow”?

Is this where I get to say I told you so??

I’m really glad. Sounds like you got lucky, and I know she did, too.

Yep! It’s a classic

Did you write this book? You recommend it everywhere. I might have to actually add into my reading list.

Read it! It basically explains how ppl think/make decisions and some “hacks” to make the most of our processing system(s)

That’s all well and good, but does it also have dragons and people hitting each other with swords?
