Received a promotion at work today. Official title “Senior Principal Engineer, System Architect”
Does Principal not imply most senior?
Either way, congratulations on the promotion ![]()
From one Principal (Civil) Engineer to another, congrats sir!
In my company it goes
Associate engineer
Engineer
Principal
Senior Principal
Staff
Senior staff
Consulting
Tech fellow
It’s weird. I don’t get it either.
Thank you.
Was at work, and this little boy came up to me and asked if he could touch my braids.
“Excuse me ma’am, I like your hair may I touch them? They look like long ropes.”
To which I bent down and watched this handsome little boy light up playing with my hair. 10/10 would let him play with my hair any day.
It’s really weird how engineering “ranks” have no real consistency between companies. I worked at a company where it was:
Junior
Staff
Senior
Principal
Senior Principal
It’s not just minor variations. There is almost no way of knowing what any of the titles mean in a vacuum. The only things that are consistent is that fellow is almost always near the top and senior means that there is something lower than where you are.
Met with one of my advisors (for my for credit independent project). He said I’m personable and easy to work wjth. He also said it would serve me well in grad school
This is the first time someone has complimented my personality
I’m moving into the office of the retiring man I’m replacing as a full time therapist at my clinic. His office:
It freaked me out, honestly. I’m used to NICE offices, and this one seemed narrow and gloomy and dark.
But this is what I managed to do today. I need to figure out about pictures and there are things on the back wall that have to be taken out, but I’m feeling like I can make it a welcoming space:
Mostly, I’m happy to complete the transition and be down to one not-shared office, and to be able to leave work at work every day.
As someone who has spent a lot of time in therapy, I give what you’ve done a thumbs up. I like the soft lighting.
Aw, thank you!
I actually really like messing with offices. REALLY like it. I go back and forth between the seats/vantage points - their view, my view - and adjust from there. It’s a weird passion of mine, my therapy office and what it says and feels like to people.
@anna_5588 a personality compliment is one of the very nicest things. I’m glad you got to have one!
Here’s my private practice office. I loved it, though I’m glad to leave the practice behind.
Haha, here’s another view of my new office under my predecessor:
That’s awesome to hear.
The world would be a better place if more people felt comfortable sharing these positive things.
As a therapy aficionado, dudes office gave me the heeby jeebies. Just seeing your office makes me want to spill my guts and schedule another appointment ![]()
The cordovan chair thing is a bit much.
I really like what you do with those spaces. Very good light but calming.
Homemade apple pie with homemade crust and freshly picked apples
Did you eat it with ice cream?
Nothing tastes better than fresh, hot apple pie a la mode.
OHP PR’s make me happy…
Where’s your log? I want to see this. Got to live vicariously.
you found me…
