Things I'm Sick Of In Movies

That was probably the coolest beginnings to a movie I’ve ever seen.

Yeah, the use of ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ was badass.

I think it can be creative if done right. I just saw Hostel 3 and they did a good job putting the title of the movie on screen as if it were a huge neon sign. It even reflected correctly off the car window.

I didn’t even know there was a Hostel 3. I never saw 2 but thought the first one was pretty good.

I do agree about Zombieland. That was a fun movie anyway.

I guess my issue is with films that are to be taken seriously. The text tricks make it kitschy.

Surprisingly, it was pretty damned good. I thought bringing it to America would make it suck, but the way it was done deserves some credit.

I just know I appreciate what they did with the title more than if “Hostel 3” had appeared in block letters out the blue.

I like the way they do the Bond movies. Not sure if that’s what you’re taking about.

Nearly everyone speaks English, regardless of where they’re from. Even aliens from outer space.

All police investigations require at least one trip to a strip club.

Ventilation systems in buildings are the greatest hiding places (and apparently big and sturdy enough for a 200 lb dude to comfortably crawl through) and allow one to travel to any part of a building totally undetected.
Great list ID, every one of these are a ten!
On the back of that, what about when people in old/mythical movies also have a british accent.

Game of thrones
Spartacus (greece by the way)
300
Lord of the Rings
Eragon
Any period drama no matter where its set… eastern europe etc…
Clash/Wrath of the Titans

The list is endless.

I believe it’s because Brits are badass and Awesome.

Imagine Saramon or Gandalf or Leonidas with a Boston or Alabama accent, fml.
In Rome that totally worked.

Because of the British Empire and whatnot.

When spies meet up but don’t know each other so they use code phrases like this:

Spy 1: It definitely is rainy here in London this time of year.

Spy 2: You should see the rain in Yorkshire.

Spy 1: Would I need a bigger umbrella? Perhaps a size 9?

I was just watching A View to a Kill on HBO and James Bond went to a fish market in San Francisco and went to a guy working there and the guy asked “May I help you?”
Bond said “I’m interested in soft-shell crabs” then the guy nods in understanding and leads 007 away and introduces himself as CIA.

Whoa? What if some everyday Joe said he was looking for soft-shell crabs and this guy leads him away and says “I’m Mike from the CIA…here’s a gun and money, go kill the bad guy!”???

Also when they say the title of the movie in the movie. It’s almost always terrible.

I mean sure some movies you have to say it ( I mean like they need to say “Titanic” in Titanic) but in A View to a Kill they do it…with Grace Jones looking out of the dirigible’s window and saying “Whata view!” then Zorin says “…to a kill!”

Ugh!

What I really hate are continuity mistakes, like a burning cigarette is suddenly longer than in the previous shot or a glass is magically full once again. I mean did the actor spit the drink back in the glass or what?

Star Wars drove me crazy:

You may not talk shit about Star Wars here.

Well, unless it’s the prequels.

Why not? Because it was the first film made where you didn’t see the wires moving the little spaceships?

Those ships moved via hyperdrive.

Jeez man, have you even seen the movies?!?

Often enough to have memorized most of the dialog. Test me.

I don’t know if this has been mentioned or not, but I hate it when characters in movies or TV shows are talking on the phone and just hang up on the other person, never giving any indication that the call is about to end.

And don’t ask me about something Chewy said

In which one did Obi Wan Kenobi say “May the force be with you”?

In which one did he not?

All of them!

Do 2 trick questions cancel each other out?
