Things I Like About Where I Workout

There’s many posts discussing what people dislike about their gym and the people/things in it. How about some posts on what people like?

my gym has a deadlift platform and a power rack.

You’d be surprised at how few places even know what these pieces are…

I’m the only one who works out there and it has everything I need. It doesn’t get any better than that.

My gym is hardcore with lots of power racks and 2 olympic stations.

My gym has every piece of equipment I need.

Normally I am one of 3 people actually using the weights and other than a courtesy head nod everybody minds their own business.

I just hope the guy who runs it can stay in business. It’s only $40/month for both my wife and I.

The fact that it is deserted is awesome but I almost wish there were 1 or 2 experienced lifters there to learn from.

But, hell, that’s why I tune in here.

Thanks T-Vets

The chicks. That’s about the only redeeming quality Bally’s has.

I wish it was my gym.

The college near my house just built a new facility.

It has 12 (yes, 12) power racks and 8 oly platforms.

It is one balls-to-the-wall facility. I am seriously impressed every time I visit there.

I love how when I go in there the squat station is almost always empty when I want it…doesn’t say much for the others that go when I do but whatever

2 meet benches
ivanko kg plates
deadlift forks
foam roller
chalk
a bunch of experienced PLers

Free weights
120 years old weightlifting place (nice aura)
24 hour access
Hardly anyone there
Free music choice, loud as I want.

(-no girls :))

-cheap,
-old and dirty (aura)

4 power racks, each has its own oly platform and their hidden, tucked away in their own little room away from the machines and free weight areas.

I love my gym because the owners are almost family to me and I always get a good workout. Plus they play good music and the other members are polite and friendly and are always willing to trade training info. Ooh and the power rack is pretty much used only by me

Friendly staff and a steam room in the locker room that actually has decent steam…great for pre or post workout stretching before the shower.

I go to two different gyms and sometimes I wish I could take the best parts of each and make a decent gym.

One gym has a bunch of racks, but they’re crap. The other has one rack, but it’s better than the 5 racks at the other place. One place has lots of well maintained dumbbells, but very little open space and few free benches to use when needed. The other has lots of room and benches, but the dumbbells are all loose and a safety hazard. It’s like the land of misfit toys.

Come on lottery…I need my own gym.

Don’t I know it, my g/f got me as an x-mas present a gym membership, an the place has 3 smith machines an not a single open rack for squats, not even a squat step rack.

Things I love about my gym;

2 ER IPF standard racks and benches
500+kg of Leoko plates
2 Leoko comp bars
3 Full Eleiko bumper sets
3 Eleiko bars
2 Platforms
As much chalk as you want

training with;
225kg @ 66kg raw squatter (not even a belt)
850kg total @ 90kg in 1x ply gear
320kgx3 squat @ 100kg 1x ply
And most of all, the atmosphere’s awesome.

  1. I’m always the ONLY person there.

  2. It costs me only 20 bucks a month, no start-up fees.

  3. It’s got pretty decent equipment (see fotos).

  4. It has a radio with wall-mounted speakers and I get to listen to whatever music I want to.

My wife found this gym totally by accident. It’s located on the second floor of–get this–our local ice skating rink! The kids’ ice hockey team uses the gym in the evenings, but it’s also open to the public.

The big drawback are its available hours–from 9AM till 9PM. For the time being, my work hours are flexible, allowing me to go in the mornings.

Here’s a shot of the dumbell rack
