This is frustrating to me because, as a gaming machine, my 8 year old rig is still fantastic. I can run any game at 1080p on max settings and it looks and runs great.

I’m on an upgraded graphics card (Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060) from what I initially bought. I also doubled my RAM to 32 G for like 60 bucks or something, along with buying a 1TB solid state hard drive for all of my demanding games. I mostly play grand strategy games like the Total War series and Paradox games like Hearts of Iron 4 and Crusader Kings 3.

I also have a really nice Samsung Galaxy 32’ gaming monitor I bought a year ago, so that’s good to go for top-quality 2k gaming at high FPS for well into the future.

I’ll definitely play Baldur’s Gate 3 again when I’m done, but I suppose I should start squirrelling away a few grand to get a rig that will last me another decade. I’m glad I went with the best processor on the market last time and I’ll definitely do that again.

I hear you. Honestly, dropping $3k on a PC isn’t even worth it unless you want frames higher than 60 at 2k or 4k. What really gets me is the price of monitors if you want 120Hz or more and 4k. The one I’m looking at cost as much as my PS5. It’s ridiculous.

Starfield just went live on Gamepass in the Central time zone.

I’ve been enjoying it a lot.

2023 has been a great year for gaming with some big titles still to come.
