The Video Game Thread

I have held off buying days gone so far but it’s really been tempting and I know I will get it one day. I think it’s on special on ps store for 40 dollars which just might make me jump in

Anyone played Forza Horizon 4? I had the day to myself and hadn’t played any video games in at least six months so picked it up yesterday.

Ended up playing for six hours and it felt like one - great game.

It’s not going to blow your socks off, but it’s a fun game. Trying to take out a horde of hundreds of zombies is pretty fun.

Yeah I saw they released a new survival mode and then I also saw they are releasing s mode later on too see how long you can survive against a horde.

This is a pretty cool article discussing how they designed them.

Borderlands 3 is the main reason I’m trying to finish my game backlog before the fall. I loved the first two games and the TellTale spinoff. I love that they’re bringing characters back from all three games.

I have the telltale game just haven’t played ir

Going old school and picking up playing Finale Fantasy 7 again

Was on vacation, didn’t take the console. Had some downtime while the kids napped and family did something else. Saw Fallout 1,2 and tactics on sale on Steam for $6.50. I had never played them and thought it might be nice to see where it all started.

Playing the original and the first town is completely vanilla RPG. Get quest->help quest giver->get exp and everyone loves you. No faustian bargains, or grey morals. No deducing who the bad guy is or isn’t. I’m thinking “maybe the first game isn’t that intense with the tough choices and the dark themes.”

Then I make it to the second town. The doctor seems nice enough… but he employs a retarded midget in the basement who dismemberes the doctors patients in order to sell the meat to other towns.

I’m thinking “there it is!”

Just played Bloodstained. The ultimate fan service to Castlevania fans. 100% recommend.

Days Gone was much better than the reviews gave it credit

Playing The Sinking City. Not for everyone, but if you’re a fan of slow burn stories, mystery, and Lovecraft, it’s very interesting. Similar to Vampyr in a lot of ways.

Just finished the three Metro Exodus games. Anyone have any recommendations for games like those? FPS, not multiplayer, not open world.

Doom.
Golden Eye. Lol

Ok. I should have clarified “recent” games.

That’s the third town. The second one has a twisted scenario or 2.

I have played Fallout 1 so much. Last runthrough was with just a pair of brass knuckles. Doing a BB gun run now.

@bulldog9899 I SO want to do another FF7 run through. I have bought 5 copies of the game, to include one of the ones with the misprint on the case.

Not that similar in terms of theme, but FPS, not open world too. Wolfenstein series

I really liked the Wolfenstein games. That’s the kind of thing I’m looking for.

Played Super Smash Bros all weekend with one of my boys and a couple of his cousins. Love that game.

Now you’re talking my language

Have you tried Bioshock Series?

I have played the Bioshock series.

If you don’t mind a bit of 3rd person. The siphon filter series was awesome. There was some really good stealth and tactical gameplay and it wasn’t open world. Story wasn’t bad either.
