There is no ambiguity in my mind when it comes to either issue.
My father came to America with a wife, a son (my older brother) and $70 equivalent. He now owns a 6000 sq ft house and is rich many times over. America is the land of opportunity. To say it should be charged with some sort of treason is dumb.
It is the best country.

This whole “only in America” is for the most part, super bs.
Sure, once america was really the land of equality (if you were white) and freedom (if you were unfree until then). But nowadays?
Some examples how desperately people want to believe this are astonishing.
A documentation I saw some years ago was about a new york taxi driver who felt himself blessed because he could finally obtain a taxi license via lottery (usually, you pay kind of a rent to a license broker). This simple license had then to be bought at an auction, which cost him about half a million!
Then deep in debt, he was shown as he drove around the city, his accent laden voice from the off: this land has fulfilled my dreams and given me hope, I’m my own boss, I have a future and so on.
If he’d know that in Germany he’d probably only had to work half as long and enjoy the same comfortable middle class life while at the same time enjoying better medical treatment, living more secure etc.
