Interesting. I always test my athletes on whey Vs non-whey, using organic hemp protein.

I just spent a little time researching the aa profile of hemp vs brown rice protein, and hemp is the clear winner! I hear it tastes pretty gnarly, though. The local natural food market carries Nutiva organic hemp, so I will try it.

Also, I take it you made your whey shakes with only a little water…? Too much water dilutes the concentration of digestive enzymes, making your whey hard to digest.

I’ve tried several dilutions to see what feels best, and have even taken a probiotic to see if it helps with the bloating and nausea. The whey started bothering me about 2 years ago. Prior to this, I had no problem with it.

OK, since I am all about ‘balancing the harm with good’, I suggest you think about adding in some form of catacholamine control supplement to counter the caffine.
I would suggest phosphatidyleserine @ 300mg/day or 600mg-2000mg if feeling exceptionally stressed.
PS has been shown in numerous studies to halt age-related cognitive decay - not that you are ‘age-related’ yet
and improve various cognitive ability markers.

I’ll get some PS. With all the damage I’ve done to my brain over the years, it’s a wonder I can think at all!
Many thanks, Bushy. You are a gentleman and a scholar.
bushy will lead you in the right direction Yo…one thing i would add is if your issues are serious (bushy knows my story) i would consult a competent functional medicine provider, tehy will be able to pinpoint thru testing EXACTLY what is going on and why. Believe me when i say unless you are already dead you CAN NOT be in worse condition than i was. I don;t know your location but if you are in teh midwest let me know and i can refer you to the best in the business.
Thanks, MP, you’re wonderful. I’m in New England, and there are several good functional medicine centers in all the university towns.
I think at one point in my 20’s, I was dead. Then I woke up handcuffed to a hospital bed. Blame it on drugs and rock and roll. I’ve managed to stay one step ahead of the devil my entire life. Now my past has caught up with me, and she’s a mean bitch.

i’ve been really interested in seeing a functional medicine provider.
just how good were your results? a total recovery?
miraculous is what they were…its hard to put in words. To summarize i was on psych meds for 20 years off and on…spiraled into deep suicidal depression and psychosis while on their latest cocktail. Hospitalized briefly…finally my life was saved by my specialist. It wook about 6 months to establish my situation and ween me off teh meds (poison) that they had me on.
I have been med free and happy for 3 years…no issues whatsoever. The brain is like any other organ it has to fed properly and if it is all this bullshit “mental illness” disappears. The fucking meds destroy your brains ability to cope on its own. They hide the problem and soon make it FAR worse.
Thanks for the contribution Morepain it is awesome to hear these success stories.
BBB, at what doses of bacopa can you achieve the same effects as with PS? Would you ever recommend a combo?
I have this book but I haven’t finished it.
I suffer from adult ADHD and was always curious if there was a natural way to ‘solve’ the issue.
I don’t really like Milk or cheese, so I typically don’t have any diary in my diet. I’ve been through spurts where I didn’t have any diary/wheat and it didn’t seem to make much of a difference in my mental clarity or ability to focus. I believe the book recommends a few different amino acids for ADHD, but with my typical diet being very high in protein and fat I kinda assumed my bases were covered there.
It’s very frustrating for me, I don’t like the idea of taking adderall for the rest of my life and it really only seems to work well in cycles - I need to take a few days off or else I turn into a zombie (I’m exaggerating but you get the point, I zone out frequently).

Anyone who recommends you as the source of knowledge IS wonderful. But a scholarly gentleman is sexy. I mean seck-say!!

A combo would be an excellent idea, because as the Thai people say, bacopa and PS are “same same but different”.
God I love Thailand.

Thanks BBB! on a side note. I was reading some of your posts regarding CFS and you mentioned chelation therapy for CFS? Do you still believe this would be beneficial?
Project X - i got the book used on amazon for 8 bucks.

thanks dude.

I think it would, but it might be even better to inject glutathione, intravenously. I’m just saying, not recommending as such.
