REAL-WORLD VIOLENCE DOESN’T FOLLOW RULES

*Real-world violence doesn’t follow the structured rules of sport. There’s no timer to run out and no referee to stop the action. When the fight finds you on the job, it’s just you, and your training.

Carry an [EDC] weapon like a smuggler on the run, not like a mall cop with authority. Weapons are meant to be felt, not seen.

Those who went before us, were our best and their sacrifice protected this nation. We will never forget that.

EVERYTHING CAN FAIL: THE IMPORTANCE OF ADAPTABILITY

In the real world, no technique works 100% of the time. Combatives are unpredictable, and relying on one approach is a recipe for failure.
Every situation is different, and what worked in one scenario may not in another. Factors like an attacker’s size, strength, skill, and mindset all impact what will be effective-and what might fail.

One of the biggest training mistakes is becoming too rigid. There’s no “magic move” that fits all situations, which is why adaptability and transitioning are critical. You must be able to adjust tactics on the fly, responding to what the attacker is doing in real-time. That’s why we focus on principles, not just techniques.

*Every technique can fail. Whether it’s because of the attacker’s physicality, environmental factors, or the chaos of the fight, things go wrong. Training for the worst-case scenario prepares you to keep going, even when your initial plan fails. The ability to adapt, maintain control, and stay effective in high-stress situations is what separates those who can and those that fail.

Thought for the day:

Stop preparing for ideal conditions. Start training for reality.

The Birth of the U.S. Army, the 250th anniversary of America’s first national institution

The U.S. Army was established on June 14, 1775—more than a year before the Declaration of Independence. Under civil authority, militia from separate colonies unified under a new commander to form a national force to fight for independence. The history of the Army is intertwined with the history of America itself.

We all end up dead, it’s just a question of how and why. Every man dies, not every man really lives.”

Good advice for anyone:

BEHAVIOR BEFORE THE WEAPON

Behavior is the warning before the weapon. predators will show their intentions first, if you know what to look for. Recognizing pre-attack indicators isn’t just a tactical advantage, it’s a time advantage. And in our world, time is everything.

The earlier you pick up on the signs the more time you have to react, and the more time you have equals more options. Delayed recognition leads to delayed action, and that’s where control gets lost.

Train your eyes. Train your instincts. See the moment before it unfolds.
