The Tactical Life

Thought for the day:

In keeping with yesterday’s post, how would you advise your wife, daughter, sister, etc, to handle this attack?

Like my instructor says…

”You’re either committing assault or starting the fight in a bad position.”

With what I could see, thats a manageable situation for a female with good Jiu Jitsu. I know a few gals who could ruin that guy’s day.

The problem is that it took them years to get there.

That’s a fight like hell lethal force situation for any woman. Use whatever you have to get away or make it stop.

Totally agree.

I think women (probably the majority of men also) should attend some instruction where they are manhandled. Otherwise they will be so overcome by the shock and/or disbelief that they are being accosted, they will do zero.

Damn. Take those friggin buds out of your ears.

I don’t understand why once she was aware of him, she ever turned her back to him.

Don’t be somewhere where you are that alone. Assume everyone is up to no good. Get away.

First off, I have to say it even though we try to keep politics off this thread, this is DeBlasio and his commie followers’ NYC. When they spoke to residents in the area they said things have gotten worse not just in terms of crime but the neighborhood is dirty. NYC is going backward.

Anyway, it sounds crazy that a woman, or anyone for that matter, would give the impression that they have no awareness of the dangers of living in a city but it’s normal from my experience. I lived in a ghetto that was high crime including lots of murder. You would see children playing in the street after midnight. It was like people were oblivious to the dangers of the city. I think it’s because wherever you live, things become the norm. You get comfortable. The chances of becoming a victim are relatively slight so you don’t worry about it. It’s always someone else who is a victim.

That woman probably walked there many times without incident. The biggest mistake she made was looking like a victim before she was a victim. Combine that with believing she would never be a victim.

The largest hurdle is convincing them that they could be accosted.

Well, hopefully Eric Adams ultimately will prevail in this train wreck of an election. He is the best hope to stopping the city’s downward slide and restoring the progress that had been made toward law and order.

God bless America, Happy Birthday.

God bless the multitudes of Americans who have died defending this flag since 1776.

God bless America as our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Rule of Law are slowly being eroded.

God bless all Americans today who still respect our country and flag. Freedom is a precious commodity , celebrate today, you may not have it in the future.

From Toney Blauer:

*While the original battle is won and done, there will always be battles facing our nation and for us, the American citizen. And there are many wars being waged on us as you read this that in many ways aren’t very different from the battle in 1776. *

The biggest battle today is also on our minds.

We are being manipulated in a way never before thought possible and you’re probably holding one of the tools/weapons responsible for this in your hands right now! (Me too! Guilty as charged.)

The ‘Conditioning’ is real.

We do it to ourselves, every time we grab our phone and scroll.

More than ever, we need to be thinking about our emotional and psychological ‘independence’ from all the noise.

So please be careful what you choose to believe, to embrace, to invest in because that becomes your inner world and eventually the path you walk.

The right thing to think and the right thing to do are always ‘right’.

And this is where the weak and the strong are tested because the right stuff is always the more difficult choice to make.

Meditate on that.

Not to get overly political, but America is not perfect however, you can see how progress has been continually made in our history. The irony is that “progressives” fail to see (or choose not to see) that progress.

Calgary police say man who intervened after hearing woman tell man to stop hitting her has died - The Globe and Mail

I am really posting this because I wanted to use the right click function of my new computer pen. Doesn’t always work perfectly first time, but it was free with my new Hewlett Packard.

I once came close to intervening in such an incident, I just waited until a lull in their argument to ask if she was his girlfriend and she said yes. I was told to fuck off, but I thought someone should be a presence.

In this article being the good guy just didn’t leave a warm fuzzy feeling afterwards.

Something that came up this week. Just buying a handgun because of all the riots last year, being responsible by taking classes to acquire a carry permit and learn weapon safety, is only the first steps in the process. Quality practice is the foundation for accuracy. If you have been training effectively, this a good drill to check your progress:

  1. From three yards – two rounds to the body
  2. From seven yards – two rounds to the body/reload/two rounds to the body
  3. From seven yards – two rounds to the body/one round to the head
  4. From seven yards – six rounds with your strong hand/reload/six rounds with your weak hand
  5. From 25 yards – two round to the body/reload/two rounds to the body

Some good points here. Pick a couple or all for your training.

Will you step up if needed?

self defense 2

The guy on the bottom is about 1 second away from an armbar, or a number of other bad outcomes he’s failing to defend.

Luckily he’s in a Jiu Jitsu class, where he will learn to not do stupid things with your arms.

Well, I have been ranting again over on PWI, so, I thought I would go with something light today with a few practical nuggets thrown in.

You might be a gray man if …

He isn’t, the symbol in the background says “shotokan”, a distinct style of karate that I took for years.

I’ve been doing BJJ for a little over a month now… When we aren’t in lockdown that is, it’s a lot of fun

Muay Thai interestingly also has a little bit of grappling via the clinch, trips, dumps, sweeps, throws and takedowns. If one was to take up one art I’d think Muay Thai = pretty decent.

Having done Muay Thai for over a year, and still doing it on and off as my time allows, it is definitely one I would recommend. You learn a lot of body control, as you mentioned through clich, sweeps and the rest.
Saying that, if the fight goes to the ground and your opponent is more skilled in BJJ, you may be in trouble. Personally, I am quite a lousy grappler but I’m half decent in a clich.

I do Muay Thai, BJJ and a little bit of boxing to improve my striking game for Muay Thai.
