The Tactical Life

Since this occurred in Britain, I am not sure of their polices on felony stops. In the US, once the NCIC showed an active felony warrant, backup would have been dispatched and if the officer was using her head, she would have contained the felon in the vehicle (if possible) until they arrived. Gender has no bearing on following good procedure.

Gender really has no part in whether an officer is any good or not. I have worked with male and female officers who were excellent and some who I would not clear a closet with. Female officers face physical limitations more than males but the good ones compensate by being smart tactically and learning that verbal judo is their best weapon. The comment the civilian made is just plain garbage, he/she doesn’t wear a badge, so they don’t know crap.

Good thoughts and I agree with you.

Thought for the day: Put yourself here, what would be your response?

Now, my LE instincts says this is probably drug related but watch this and ask yourself if you are ready. I could dissect this in many ways, but, notice entry was made through a door near the bedroom. The perps were bunched up, so, therefore at a tactical disadvantage. Imagine if the bedroom was in the rear of the house and perps had dispersed into single attackers. Much harder to hit multiple attackers than a group of bunched up tactical idiots. Be ready by thinking ahead.

Actually this was in London, Ontario, Canada. A bit of what had me post originally was the police car in the tubby officer with bear post looks a lot like London Police Service one.

My mistake, thanks for pointing that out.

Thought for the day:

Like Colonel Beckwith said, "I’d rather go down the river with seven studs than with a hundred shit heads.

Random break-in does seem dubious.

But for the rest of us, good time to keep target hardening in mind.
Door was easily kicked in. Some sort of door bar
Motion light.
Dude had a security camera on front door, how about approaching porch?
Alarm.

This screams drug rip to me as well, but maybe not. Definitely agree on the bunching up. They also stalled at the door and didn’t move with any real authority or resolve. If the layout of the house had been different and if the home owner could shoot at all, they’d likely have been deader than disco.

Thought for the day:

"*Approach your training with a plan. You should identify a training goal for each range session, class or competition. Have an outline of what skills you want to focus on, what distance you want to train, what targets you want to use, light and weather considerations, time considerations etc. You will need a way to record your performance. I say performance and not results because good results will come from performance. Performance is not a product of results."

Thought for the day: Keep you tactics simple.

There is a moment in life where you realize that all those paths you created in that dense forest of problems in your head might not be accessible when you venture into the dark. Whether it be tactical performance, gunfighting or hand to hand combat (or really, any human endeavor), keeping the concept stupid simple and as linear as possible without compromising survivability and mission performance is crucial. Sure, it might not be such a good business model but in terms of performance too many transitions, too much manipulation and too many scripted procedures to a slew of different problems will not help and often, instead, end up hindering your performance.

Keep things simple and consistent. Less is more.

Hey Idaho,

I haven’t checked into this thread in a long time. Thanks for the inspiration and reality check.

No problem, brother, just don’t stay gone so long.

This post also caused me to think of how often women grab their own man, when he is about to physically engage in a fight or is about to be assaulted.

Not sure what the female perspective is (avoidance of physical confortation?), but it is the proverbial fighting with one hand tied behind your back.

You are right, I have seen this a thousand times on domestic calls. IMHO, unless the woman is trained, if would be best if there just were no contact. Doesn’t sound PC, but, whether a man or a woman, don’t engage and make the situation worse through your keyboard fighting skills.

Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” Arnold Schwarzenegger

Not sure if I made a clear post.
I am saying man is about to fight, self defend, etc against an adversary and his own woman grabs him. Obviously very dangerous to have someone unexpectedly tying you up, in such a situation.
