I agree, from my street cop days, you are spot on with these observations. Actually, being the asshole was always the most dominant characteristic.
Thought for the day: This is a wise article from the Gunny, he usually writes an article about once a month. Currently retired from the Corps, he trains, mentors and advises third world troops and police.

I think I’m due for a good ass kickin’
K boys, anyone who has a woman and has been deployed, wondering on occasion if maybe they’re gonna make it back to her cause shit is just that bad, OR if you have a kid who is heading into that situation, here’s a prayer.
First though, lemme explain a little: last I was deployed was in the frickin sandbox
and my boy was 3 mos when I left. My wife and kid were/are of paramount importance to me like every other soldier’s is, so when the luxury of going to sleep came around I always prayed God would assure my wife I’d be back…but, there’s that off chance… So by God I believe we’re connected in eternity - hence this prayer.
Thanks for the thoughtful post. I will admit, I am not a traditional religious person, but, I have never met an atheist in combat. Not saying they are not out there, just haven’t met one and when someone has been severely injured, never heard anyone pray to the devil. But, I think everyone carry’s a “secret” prayer to either release an inner fear or simply say it each time before the shits hits, as a “good luck” ritual.
I have often prayed to not make a critical mistake and get someone killed, or, prayed for insight into a problem, or due to whatever when down, I often said, "give me strength to live, so I can kill another one of these bastards tomorrow. Not a good thing I know, but, I have a lot of little sayings that run through my mind about 30 seconds before go. Actually, my main prayer is, “Please don’t let me fuck up”
Well, whatever or whoever you believe in, you paid a severe price , but made it back to your wife and son, and for that, God Bless.
Thought for the day:
"Although selection( insert what you wish here: profession, family, martial arts, cancer, whatever) is a physically draining effort, it is the mental aspect that makes it so hard. It matters not if one could bench press 450 pounds or run a mile in five minutes, if he or she doesn’t have the mental capacity to endure tough physical and mental conditions for days on end. In the end, a strong mind will prevail over a strong body any day".
I like that logic actually.
Coincidentally, I was watching “Patton” the other day (imagine that), and one of my fav lines in the opening speech is how we don’t win wars by dying for our country, we win by making the other bastards die for their country. Appropriate as hell.
You may note later in the movie that he has a 1911 tucked in his waistband lol…
Lastly, a training opp - I used the man’s name to instruct my wife → U never, ever surrender your firearm. If George S fuckin Patton rises from his grave and orders you to give him your firearm, you tell him hell no…
We then went over it. I asked her, “Do you ever surrender your firearm?”
She said “No”
“Wat if George S fuckin Patton rose from the dead and ordered you to, wat would you do?”
She said, “I’d tell him go to hell!”
So, even mundane things like movies on Netflix can present training opps ![]()
Good day gents
Thought for the day:
“The truth is men are given a tremendous amount of power in that we are not only able to think but we are able to make choices yet most men squirm like worms rather than act like lions once given the facts”
Thought for the day: Wishing you a safe and thoughtful Easter. My sincere condolences to the victims of the Sri Lankan terrorist attack. Lets see, people trying to worship and get blown to hell, Notre Dame burns down and violence riots erupt in the streets of Paris over the money donated to rebuild. Yeah, everything is logical as hell.
On a lighter note:

Motivational Monday:
I am going to assume that Mr. Dawson won the genetic lottery, but, I am also going to assume that he did not reach 94 years of age without a life long commitment to training. He has certainly held up to be a member of the first SEAL team. All my respect, Mr. Dawson, and I will add a little to my training today to honor you. So, unless life has you penned down with no cover, at least knock out a set of pushups today. BTW, can never tell about photos, but, the man still looks tough as an old oak tree.

Thought for the day: With summer approaching, I assume a lot of you will be traveling. I have found this to contain some very useful information. It is long, but, if you are traveling out of the country, worth reading.

S_afsoc: Just for you , brother:

Ed Brown Products, Inc. is honored to once again be working with the Cooper family to release the 2019 Jeff Cooper Commemorative 1911, a tribute to the late Colonel Jeff Cooper and all of his contributions to 1911 world.
The all blued gun, features a high polish slide with Jeff Cooper’s signature inlayed in gold on the right side, and the left side is inlayed “DVC” which stands for the latin phrase, “Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas”, meaning “Accuracy, Power, Speed”. This became the motto of IPSC. The 25 LPI checkering provides a solid grip to control the pistol, while adding a classic detail. As the Colonel instructed, make it reliable and not too flashy. A fixed rear sight is perfectly matted to the gold bead front sight for a effective and durable point of focus. A concealed carry grip safety was chosen after reviewing photos of some of the Colonel’s favorite 1911’s, revealing he preferred a shortened grip safety. Finishing off the package are th Cocobolo grips, adorned with the Jeff Cooper logo made up of his initials, a quill, and a sword – he was equally skilled with all. As with pistols built at Ed Brown, every part is fully machined and hand fit by highly skilled craftsmen, for an exceptional fit, function, and feel, with the quality that will last a lifetime. This timeless design is sure to be a source of pride for the owner and a family heirloom to be shared with future generations.
Thought for the day:
Call it paranoid, delusional ,or just plain , “idaho is crazy”, but, got to thinking about this after overhearing a couple of agents on the firing line. It seems everyone on the planet is talking about the release of the Avengers movie, even agents who should be honing their skills in the kill house instead of trying to find some tickets.
During a piss break, a couple of people were talking about the massive crowds expected over the weekend. The first thing I thought was, “active shooter” . Remember the Batman movie shooting? Since you are in charge of your family’s security, give some thought to providing some protection to your children, doing a pre recon of the facility and taking a med kit. If legal to carry, carry, enjoy the movie and be aware. Am I being paranoid? Probably, but, a little precaution goes a long way.
You absolutely have to be wary though. All the time. The people who carry out these attacks have shown they are comfortable with striking any densely populated public spaces. Whether that’s bombing kids at an Ariana Grande concert, opening fire on a school or mowing down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge or at Borough Market. I do not have statistics for attacks like these but my perception is that they are more and more frequent, I may be wrong on that. It feels ridiculous typing this but people are constantly at risk/threat by just going about their business, particularly in larger urban areas.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms… disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.
Thomas Jefferson, in Commonplace Book, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764
Thought for the day: I am not associated with Invictus in any way, I just happen to agree with this statement.
A paradigm shift in combative study happens when you embrace truth and reality. It’s up to you.

Oh my!
Hadn’t looked at posts here for a few days…glad I did
She’s purdy. Thx for sharing Brother!

First, I am not affiliated with this organization in any manner and, Second, I am not asking for any money or anything else for this organization. I just know a person who did this last year and think , based on her report, a worthy thing to do. If you are in the Dallas area, in reasonable shape, it is something to consider.
Come out and join Team Metis Tactical this Memorial Day Weekend in the @carrytheload March in Dallas. Link is in the bio to donate to raise money in support of veteran and first responder programs in honor of Memorial May. The money raised goes to provide healing services for mind, body and soul of our warriors. Last year, Carry The Load supporters and sponsors raised more than $2 million! Help us honor our heroes with even more support this year. .
